Tips, tricks and turns, when adding The Hoodliner under your hood

Bought a roll…thought I’d just be able to measure and cut from the one big piece, place it, and boom…done. NOPE.

..more of a piecemeal, jigsaw puzzle approach….since Ford was gracious enough to have the windshield washer lines running in various places, hard-clipped in, no real way to use all big pieces…hence, my many-cuts masterpiece..lol

ALSO…made the mistake of trying to cut first, using a boxcutter, then, an actual razor blade….disasterous…use a good, sharp pair of regular scissors…otherwise, you’ll make a mess.

Let us know how it works out. I believe the windshield is the culprit for most of the noise. Lariat owners could confirm. I previously had a '21 Edge (2.0 EB). It was dead-quiet. It didn't have a hood-liner nor engine cover either. It did have an acoustic windshield (and better sound deadening throughout I'm sure).

Let us know how it works out. I believe the windshield is the culprit for most of the noise. Lariat owners could confirm. I previously had a '21 Edge (2.0 EB). It was dead-quiet. It didn't have a hood-liner nor engine cover either. It did have an acoustic windshield (and better sound deadening throughout I'm sure).

Took it for about a 60 mile round trip...it helped muffle the engine noises, but, I believe there's not much in the firewall area either, preventing the various odd noises...for example, when you put it in Sport mode, and you're slowing down and it's holding the rev up, I can clearly tell it's permeating the firewall...I have a laminated windshield supposedly, and yet the Ecoboost whirr and at higher revs, still gets in.....

So, mixed results...better? Yes. Worth it? Probably, yes. But Ford went el cheapo on the sheet metal....all around. Yes, I know it is a cheap vehicle...but I think they took the NVH moniker, and decided to throw it away...lol

Here's two examples:
1) First time I stepped my 300 lb azz on the tailgate, it cracked like metal was breaking and I quickly moved off...happened more than once...so when I get up there, with a small ladder, I step over that tailgate unless absolutely necessary. No, it was not the hinges, bolts, etc. If you look at the bare metal where the tailgate pieces come together, it's pretty thin.
2) When installing this hoodliner, I had the prop rod in...anytime I brushed against it more than a little, it sounded like the hood was going to fold like an accordion, or, the prop rod was about to rip the hole bigger. Exaggerating, but you get the point.

Not complaining, necessarily. Still love it. But if you get into a wreck with a vehicle of any substance, you're turning into a Smart car. Lol.

I agree. I have to keep telling myself this is a $20k vehicle. Had I went from my Ram Tradesman to my Maverick, I'd be fine. My Ram was loud -- but it was a good noise with intake and exhaust. It also had very hard interior plastics. However, I made the mistake of buying an Edge in between (didn't think I'd ever get my Maverick). The Edge starts at $35.9K, and you can really tell the difference. At full throttle, it was only +1 db louder than idle. I also really miss the 12" screen and Sync 4A (wireless CarPlay). Overall, I'm still real happy with my Maverick. It's like an inexpensive swiss army knife.

Perfect example…swapped out my Reverse lights with LEDs…and inside where the taillight goes…well…water is def getting in there (glad I have mudguards now), you can see straight through to the ground, and the metal is…thin. And some paint missing…
