Installed the X-Terrain Bed Extender today:

Used this video as a guide:

Ample headroom for my hard tonneau cover (I have the Rough Country Low Profile trifold).

The YouTube install video shows 2 black metal plates used on the back side of the mounting brackets - mine did not come with them (not listed on the parts list either). Also - strangely, mine came with self-tapping screws for the mounting brackets instead of nuts/bolts/washers, so I picked these up - perfect fit for the pre-drilled holes in the Lariat Tremor bed:

As soon as I put the tie-downs on, I noticed they were resting on the paint on the side of the bed. I was concerned about the paint getting scratched, so I picked up a sticky-back felt pad from Joann Fabrics and cut it to size:

I'm pretty happy with the result. I paid a few bucks for the extra hardware and felt pad, but for a $169 bed extender, I'll take it.

Does this one use the OEM mounting areas, or do you have to measure and drill your own?

Same model I installed. I paid $180 for it in January, so nice little price drop. I looked at the OEM but it was twice the price and I didn't like the weird angles. So I decided to take a chance with this one.

I spent quite a bit of time lining up the horizontal and vertical bars because I wanted them to sit perfectly plumb and level and meet at the same place on the bed and tailgate -- I actually ended up trimming the horizontal bars about an inch just so I could get the distances right. Overkill, but came out exactly how I wanted. I sprang for stainless hardware, just because -- cheap enough. And yes, it installs in factory holes. I have an extra rubber bed mat on top of my spray in liner as well as the tri-fold cover and it fits great.

I actually haven't used mine in the extended position yet, but it does come in handy in the closed position to contain stuff.

Overall -- really happy.

Looks good! I'm considering getting a rubber bed mat, or maybe a DIY solution like the rubber horse stall mats (posted on here a few times).

Hi, nice install! Just curious, in the pic with the added felt, do you have to remove that silver screw anytime you want to flip the extender inside?

Nope, I did not (and have not) removed the silver screw at all - I cut the felt around it - and the tie-down that attaches to hold the extender down does not require any tools to get in place.
