Well ok , but why is Video Ford guy offering up so freely information and taking questions. My point is dealers could be more forthcoming because that’s their business ,they know their business,
they know things we don’t know.
Because there are two different ways to play the game.
1. Be honest and up front. You have people flocking to you to buy vehicles but maybe with a lower profit per vehicle.

2. Be secretive about your process and maximize profit off fewer sales.

In the end, I think both paths get about the same initial revenue, but not after everyone figures out the shell game some play.

Then there are some who play football with a lacrosse stick and a catchers mitt and still succeed.

At the end of the day, it’s just a car. The longer it takes for you to get your Maverick, the more options that open up while the Maverick remains stagnant. Especially if you care about technology, which I’m guessing you do with the Lux package.

If you need a truck, the Tacoma & Ranger are expecting a refresh in 2024. Odds are Toyota announces a Maverick competitor at some point in the next year or two as well. If you don’t need a truck, the rest of the market is improving their offering constantly. Even just the 22->23 RAV4 improved with their adaptive cruise as a standard feature.

Once I recognized all the good options out there, it got much more manageable. If it’s not here by the tail end of 2023, I’m absolutely cancelling to get an Equinox EV.
I'm going through a divorce. This is not just a car. It's a light in the darkness. Seriously, the divorce is anticlimactic but, after this wait and the last crappy couple of years I'm very much looking forward to this Maverick. It's almost perfect, if it was a long bed Super Cab it would be perfect. As soon as I get it I'm going from Wisconsin to a camping trip in the Keys. Who wants to have a meet in the warm, sunny, beautiful Florida Keys. The camping there is excellent.

I go to my dealer and tell him things I've learned from the Ford Video Guy. He goes and checks and then agrees. The dealer could know but often doesn't bother. He blames his Ford rep. Now called the "inventory specialist ".

423 days for me, no production date. :(
Found out today my September 16, 2022 order was never properly placed. My sales guy said Ford can't tell him why not and he can't tell me why not. I'm assuming the dealer dropped the ball. I asked if he received a confirmation when the order was submitted and he started talking on a tangent.

However, he did say I would get first crack at any customer canceled Maverick orders and they would sell one to me at MSRP. He let me know that his is a great offer because they usually sell customer canceled orders at $8,000 - $10,000 above MSRP.

Of course my private offer isn't showing up and my sales rep said it is a Ford offer and I need to deal with FMC to resolve that.

It seems like I will have the oportunity to pay an extra $2,750 on a Maverick that probably won't be the trim & options I want.

The way some of you talk about a car is a little concerning. Over hyping is a understatement.

That’s a really good question.

What do we know about regional allocations? Any insiders have a view on how that works? I assume it is driven by some larger scale marketing goals, like more convertibles to California than northeast in winter, or more truck allocations to rural than urban areas…
I have no inside knowledge but I would suspect that the shipping costs are a big factor. There is a flat $1495 destination charge for the buyer no matter where you are but the actual shipping cost depends on where you are at. I am in Atlanta so any rail shipments to here would need to go through Texas which is maybe 750 to 1,000 miles farther away depending in where in Texas you are measuring from. I have no idea what the actual shipping costs but if it cost $300 more to ship a car to Atlanta than Texas then Ford would a lot of incentive to fill the orders in Texas before Atlanta orders. The empty rail car would also likely be returning empty from Atlanta which would add more costs because of the longer return trip.

I waited just over a year. It was worth the wait; the truck is perfect for our needs. Key is just stop thinking about it every day. When it happens, it happens -- realistically you can't change much. And I hate to say it, but that text probably didn't do you any favors... it's hard to read a person's tone via text and I can say that if I got something like that from one of my clients it would immediately push their job to my "ok, I'll get to that when I feel like it" pile. My unsolicited advice: give the dealer a call, be friendly and contrite, and ask him pleasantly how things are looking. Assure him that you're trying not to be a pest. Be friendly, accept what he has to say, thank him, and leave it at that.
That advice really is top notch..unless you have a salesman or dealership that resembles our political system...good luck with that.😂

My "deal" of why I get crabby about my 9/17/22 Maverick order is the lack of information from Ford regarding if my Mav will ever get built. This is new to me compared to many of you, but it having been almost 4 months and all Ford can tell me is to be patient and check with my dealer is frustrating. I explain my dealer knows absolutely nothing about it, and just get silence back.

All I want to know is if my vehicle will get built this year. If yes, then I will try and wait. If no I will move on. My '06 Subaru is limping along...

Information from Ford is key. I ordered a vehicle at an agreed price - we have a "contract". Don't take the order and promise me a vehicle (which keeps me from buying something else) if you can't fulfill the order.

To be fair, most September orders have been waiting longer than September for a Maverick. There are people who have wanted a Maverick for a year now, just they couldn’t even get an order in until September because Ford.

The difference between someone with an October 21 order and someone with a September 22 order may only be ~3 months of wait, but one has a $2750 discount and likely an end in sight. The other has been waiting 9 months just to get on the list, and isn’t going to get the same protection when their order is rolled over into 2024.
Exactly. I have been waiting since March of 2022

You have Ford's answer you just don't like it. They are over their allotment on hybrids. It may or may not get built. No way they can tell you for sure, it's not how their system works. So make a decision based upon the available data (it's a coin toss), not the data you wish you had.

You have the very reasonable option of switching to Ecoboost. That will almost certainly be built. Otherwise go buy something else. You don't have a contract for a vehicle. You have an order which Ford said they will do their best to build.

So in 2022 why did Ford take so many orders of hybrids over what they expect to be able to build? String us along and hope we switch to an ecoboost? Their program should have shut off hybrid orders earlier if that was the case.

Still feel a normal consumer expects to get a vehicle they ordered as they ordered it once the dealer accepts the order. My dealer on 9/17/22 said I would have my vehicle in 4-6 months. That ain't gonna happen.

Shutting off orders only works on a FIFO system. This is based off allocations. The issue is that dealers didn't stick to their approximate allocation structure and direction by Ford. They kept taking hybrid orders instead of pushing to Ecoboost.

Go to a restaurant, order the steak. After 30 minutes you ask about your food, restaurant says they just found out they were out of steaks. You don't get upset at the food distributor, you tell off the restaurant.

The dealers over committed the hybrid then duck back for you to yell at Ford. Everyone knew for '23 the hybrid was the big constraint. Ford announced only 35% would be hybrid. Still dealers took orders for like 65% hybrid.

No hope. Anyone else feel this way?

Nope.

Great things are coming, no parts shortages, no labor constraints, Hybrid engines will be produced far in excess of Ford's expectations.

Everyone will get their order built by August and the dealers will honor their commitments. And our current vehicles will not require any repairs before the spanking new Mavericks arrive.

There will be great rejoicing in the land, although some here at MTC will despair in the interim.

I have this on the authority of Crusty, the Chesapeake Blue Crab, who appeared to me in a dream last night. Crusty has never been wrong. You can take it to the bank.

I have no hope of getting a Maverick. I ordered a Lariat with Lux, but removed the bedliner and bed cover. I picked the dealer as they are huge in Atlanta and don't add $$$$. But it looks like they only do big $$ Fords. Found out a couple weeks ago they haven't sold many of them. So, I expect they are not getting any allocations. Which means I'm screwed. The dealer is Jim Ellis Ford. I am calling them out as I wasn't told any of this when I contacted them 3 months before Sept 15th.

Sad that people are subjected to this kind of stuff. Not fully blaming the dealer. Ford owns most of this.
Why blame? Talk to the dealer often and be courteous, they can help. Talk to other Mav owners. Plan your upgrades. #1 of the "21 Lessons" (from the Book of Five Rings) is "Accept everything just the way it is".
Get back to me after my divorce, I'll be in a better mood.
