I chose the EB from the get-go. Don't want/need a hybrid. Not here to save the planet and I don't give a shit what a gallon of gas costs.

Hybrid order here, and I wont be switching. I do like the EB and it does get great mpg for a truck as well but I am in no real rush. The hybrid will be replacing my daily driver and it would be a very nice to have a bed instead of using my wifes small suv whenever I need to do anything around the house, but its not a necessity for now.

It seems to me that a lot of people don't know what they really want.

A lot of people on forums and FB groups claim that the reason they want a maverick in the first place is not the hybrid engine, but the small overall size and cheap price of the maverick ( in comparison to a bigger more expensive truck )

I am convinced that there are a lot of people who ordered mavericks that don't need a truck at all.

If most of the orders were from people that really needed a small truck, where a smaller SUV or even car wouldn't also suit their needs.... Then surely there would be a fair number of those people who would take a EcoBoost engine over the hybrid to insure they get what they NEED.... a small truck.

Sure the hybrid gets better MPG, but the EcoBoost gets decent MPG too.

I don't plan to switch to a EcoBoost to help my chances at getting a 2023 Maverick. But that is because I ordered 4 mavericks.... Ordered a Lariat and a XLT at one dealer, then ordered duplicates from another dealer. I want both trucks, but really only need one. So I, even with the constraints and percentages being thrown around, have a pretty good chance of getting one of the four trucks I ordered built. So no need to switch my order. But.... If I ordered only one truck, I would strongly consider switching my order, because I really need a small truck and the EcoBoost would do everything I need the truck to do, some things even better ( like towing ), and the only drawback would be 25-35 mpg vs 35-45 mpg.
I'm half convinced that if you take out all people like this who has 4+ orders to try to get one Maverick, that the order numbers would look a lot more close to being able to fulfill everyone's order.

I've had an EB on order for over 14 mo. And still no build date! Mybe I should switch to Hybrid!!!!😁😁
Probably a good move.

The hybrid: about the same cost I believe. FWD to FWD the two versions have 99% the same capabilities. AWD is missing. If you could get AWD then there's really little difference.

The extra HP in EB comes at really high RPM. 5500 I think. How much of your day do you spend at 5500 RPM?

The electric boost of the hybrid is great for towing applications. It's not the turbo that gets you to 4k towing, it's the AWD.

As many have said, it is hard to imagine many people who want a hybrid making the switch to the Ecoboost. If fuel economy is your main motivation for wanting a Maverick, the change makes no sense.

And if fuel economy is not your main motivation, you are probably like me and ordered an Ecoboost in the first place.

I had started a thread asking this question a few weeks ago and was considering the switch to EB if I was facing too long of a wait. Literally a couple days after luck intervened and I received notice that my Hybrid was scheduled and being built in December.

I would agreed with most on this topic. If you're able to wait for the Hybrid version then stick it out. My current car is on it's last legs, so it's been difficult for me as well to wait. But should pay-off in the end when I get the Hybrid

We are on week 3 of the model year. MY recommendation for the hybrid orders who are on the fence is to hold for now. Once we get to the point where the EB orders are done, then it might make sense to start jumping ship.

I spoke to my dealer awhile back. I have a 22 hybrid XLT and ordered a 23 hybrid Lariat Lux. The 23 is for my wife so we would have two hybrids and that is the main driving force. We don't do any towing, just light truck stuff so the Mav works well for us. If we can't get the 23 Mav then would probably look at a CRV Hybrid or something similar, or full EV.
Anyway - my dealer said he believes that things are improving and he believes Ford will be opening up Mav order banks again later in the model year. He is a large dealer so he may have some insight into things or he could just be wishful thinking.

I know many of us refused to alter our orders earlier this year to remove constraints, content to let it ride and see what happens. But we knew that we would get some sort of consideration if our orders rolled over to 2023. Ford already announced that 23 orders aren't getting any price protection if they aren't fulfilled and get reordered as 2024s, and the recent memo shows that 73% of outstanding orders are hybrids, but for all of 2023 Ford is only building 35%. So a ton of hybrid order holders are about to end up with nothing it looks like.

I voted no, but I might consider it if I'm not scheduled by late spring/early summer. I do a good bit of stop and go driving so the hybrid would be best for me.
