Bought a Ford trailer hitch for our 2022 Maverick and have been trying to find a ford wiring harness for it so we don't have to splice into wires and void warranty. Does anyone know if there is one available? Have called several dealerships and come up with nothing.
Thanks

They don’t work. Not even the ford accessories one (so I hear). Any harness tapped into the wiring system throws all sorts of codes. It’s a known issue, but there has been no resolution to my knowledge.

Is that true or just a rumor floating around? Uhaul has an install video, and I haven't heard of issues with after market installed hitches until just recently from people making vague references to a podcast.

You can checkout Tim’s last video.

Don’t recall where in the video it is but it’s all pretty interesting.

So you literally confirmed what I said by making a vague reference to a podcast...

Curt and others sell a relay device which requires a 12 volt wire (usually from the 12v battery) to power the trailer along with a relay that uses T plugs at the tail light assembly (no wire splicing) the assembly detects which lights are burning and duplicates the same lights on the trailer using the power wire from the 12 volt battery. The device does not add any significant current to the existing vehicle tail light circuits. Look on curts web site or trailer site. You will have to purchase one for your vehicle as they have to have specific plugs for your vehicle tail light.

Hitches and wiring modules are now available at trailer.com

Good luck

I agree with you. So far just vague rumors. I installed my Curt trailer hitch today and I also have purchased the Curt (no splice) Maverick specific wiring harness.

Are we to believe that Uhaul, for example, is going to turn away all of their potential Maverick trailer hitch installs...I don't think so.

I posted this in another thread. There is an entire thread to people installing the hitch and harness. Not sure how or why people jumped on this rumor. Just because one salesman says something doesn't make it gospel. You can install a hitch after market.

(edit agreeing with you NebraskaMan in case it wasn't clear. And Happy New Year!)
