Trailer Wiring Harness for Hybrid

Looking to get feedback from fellow owners. My XLT did not come with a receiver hitch from the factory and I'm looking to install one along with the wiring harness. I went to eTrailer and their video shows the Curt T Connector kit install on a hybrid. Yet their "tech tip" and Curt's own sit says not for use on the hybrid. The one from Ford and the other one from Curt requires wire splicing. I can do it, but really like the plug n play if possible. Is anyone using the T Connector on their hybrid?

ford just released a recall notification for the trailer hitch communication on hybrids. the way it reads, you’ll want to have them install their fix-it software patch regardless of which hitch model you install.

Thanks for the info. was just reading over the PDF at NHTSA. can't tell if it is just for the 4k package or not as it specifically mentions trailer braking, but also means lighting failures

I have no idea why not on the hybrid. I would call curt mfg 877.287.8634 and see what they say/suggest.

On your first Curt link, about 3/4 down the page is a grid of compatible vehicles and it specifically says "excluding hybrid". GPT said the hybrids communicate lighting with the BCM differently than the EB. I'll do some more digging with Curt directly

yep, I noticed that also, but never saw the op for post #4 in that form link (my24 hybrid) never reported an issue. yep, hopefully Curt can provide details. Good Luck !!!!!
