Lol you sound just like meI'm fine with my '22 XL EcoBoost and have a '23 XL hybrid on a train as I type this.
There were three things that I wanted that the XL didn't offer: cruise, dual zone climate and heated seats.
- I added cruise myself: https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/f...o-tutorial-adding-cruise-control-to-xl.23230/
- I'll add heated seats myself, good quality aftermarket inserts. (My wife is always cold)
- I can live without dual zone climate. (Again, my wife is always cold. Seat heaters help her stay warm and I can turn the temp down an extra degree or two.)
Personally, I really prefer the all black interior. The XLT and the Lariat interiors are a little too gaudy for my taste.
My wheels are at the powder coaters right now, so I don't have to look at the ugly steelies anymore.
Lots of other "upgrades" to make it uniquely mine. Basic? Yes. I like to add all of my own touches and make it far from basic in the end.
I can't leave anything alone...Lol you sound just like me
I think it looks good! The top trim lariat this year comes with those wheels according to what I ordered. They are aluminum wheels at least..Hi guys. There was some time I was after a Maverick but here in NJ there are no vehicles available and it seems there won't be for some time.
It happens I needed a (second) car out of the blue because my wife found another job which is further from home, which lead us to purchase another car.
So that was my clue to have my Maverick.
Drove one hour to PA to find a black XL Ecoboost FWD - which was everything they had - and I bought it. (eve though I had to pay an extra for it)
Now after driving and feeling it - I say I really enjoy driving the car it but I feel terrible bad about buying a trim-version so basic - kinda ashamed.
I look at that truck and think If I should try buying new wheels or something else to make it look nicer but I'm not sure about putting money on top of a XL.
What do you guys think?

Why would you feel ashamed. Why do you care what others think?Hi guys. There was some time I was after a Maverick but here in NJ there are no vehicles available and it seems there won't be for some time.

This is silly, I love the XL and think it's such a smart purchase. Even with the upgrades I made (Wheels, tires, OEM cruise control with Leather steering wheel, OEM remote/power locking tailgate) I still saved over $2,000 over an XLT and used some of the money saved to buy a really nice tonneau cover. If you're really that bothered by the wheels, grab a set of takeoffs from a Bronco Sport or even a Maverick XLT and it will make a world of difference. I found some Bronco Sport 18" wheels and tires for $300, someone had the dealer replace them with huge AT tires and nice wheels when they bought it and just wanted them out of his garage.Hi guys. Rock those steelies with pride! No shame at all. Biggest value on the road and very functional for everyday things.Hi guys. There was some time I was after a Maverick but here in NJ there are no vehicles available and it seems there won't be for some time.

The XL is the best looking trim, in my opinion. It’s a truck, not a sports car!
Studies suggest not self-identifying with cars leads to more likability.Yeah, I would rather keep driving my 2011 Expedition than have to drive an XL. You're much more brave than I am. I would be too embarrassed to come on this forum and admit I had an XL. Every time I drove it I would be worried that someone I knew would see me driving it. If they asked me if it was mine, I'd probably lie and tell them I'm borrowing it, and convince them by making an insulting joke about the poor sap that actually owned it.
