I found that Cosmoline works well on my vehicles.
After the winter, I'm going to give the Maverick as thorough a washing and undercarriage cleaning as I can and then do a DIY undercoat. I know from the shooting hobbies how durable and tenacious Cosmoline can be. It will likely be what I use on the Maverick.

Yes Just be careful when using it. Avoid getting it on soft rubber like CV Boots or electrical connectors. :)

There's not a ton you can do if you live in salt country. Regular washing can certainly help prevent rust a little longer. I've got a wash membership locally; like $30/month for unlimited washes. In the winter I'm generally going at least twice a week especially around snowfalls. They love to pretreat our roads here with salt brine before a storm.
