Element is super practical but has trash mpg for that little engine. Also not a high towing capacity

3,700 miles now on my Lariat Lux Hybrid - not sure how you could drive a Maverick and then say Honda or Toyota are off their game when it comes to quality. The Maverick is an interesting, entertaining vehicle but its build quality doesn't justify even the $29.3k price I paid for this one.

I have a friend that works for our local Toyota dealership. I spoke to him yesterday and am ordering a 2023 Prius Prime to replace the Maverick. I don't need a truck and took a chance on the Maverick since it is unique, inexpensive, and super practical. But something is just.. off.

We have 3 Lexus and a Tacoma. I only bought the Maverick for the gas mileage and size.

My 06 Tacoma has 210k miles on it and 6.5 lift and 33" wheels. And terrible gas mileage. I'm selling it to my coworker to cover my down payment on the Maverick. But I do think it'll probably outlast the Maverick after I sell it even with the 210k additional miles already on it.

I do like my Cactus Grey Lariat, but doubt it'll last as long as a Toyota product.

Interesting. What about the Maverick isn't quality? I've had mine for almost 8,000 miles and love it! Nothing has broken; the quality seems good.

If it's the bells & whistles and niceties that aren't quality, I guess we just disagree on what a $20k truck should have on it.

This right here. Have been a Honda owner for 23 years until my 2014 Honda Accord LX-MT was diagnosed with pistons that burn oil. Mechanic told me it wasn't worth it to rebuild and that I'd just have to drive around with extra quarts of oil in my car and check the oil every week. Screw that - with a new grandson and a property purchase in GA I needed reliability, something that may have gone by the wayside. Honda ain't what it used to be, I'm afraid to say.

Took a big chance buying a Maverick, sight unseen and untested.

11,200 miles in - I'm hoping for a long and harmonious relationship with my first Ford/first truck. If Ford can pull that off, they'll have a customer for life.
If Honda had brought back the Element I would have gone that route, but Honda doesn't listen to its customers so screw them.
My wife had a 2013 Honda CR-V for 8 years and replaced the battery 5 times. Honda paid for the first 2, because it was still under warranty. They said for years they couldn't find anything wrong with it and didn't know why it kept dying.

2 years ago, the service dept manager said (paraphrased), "This has been a known problem for years." To make the gas mileage better, the computer wouldn't engage the alternator on short trips. But if all you take are short 10-15 minute trips, the alternator rarely engaged and caused the batteries to have a very short life.

So they made an inferior product and lied to us about it for years! But the truth finally came out. If you have children you know: don't reinforce bad behavior. No more Hondas for us...at least not for a while. I REALLY hate being lied to!!!

Hybrid family forever! Can’t see going back to half MPG and A/C that cuts out at all stops. If Toyota had an alternative would choose them again. Like my Maverick but already have rust at the pinchweld and inside plastics are just not up to task.
Have a local VB M. that doesn’t wash it and added homemade rails and general junk in the back. It looks 20+ years old already. It looks bad, Maverick doesn’t age well. Just looks like what it will: be a ‘cheap’ truck.

I have had two Honda CRVs and liked them, but I always wanted a small truck and Maverick seems to fit perfectly what I want. However, if Toyota or Honda come out with competitor before I get my maverick, that would be very tempting.

Similar story here... sold a 2013 Tacoma Access Cab with a stick shift to get the Maverick. I was tired of 17mpg gallon on a good tank and the uncomfortable, harsh ride. The wife can drive the Maverick, it's FAR more comfortable, and it will pull our little teardrop trailer just fine. I suspect that 10 years from now the Tacoma would still be worth more than the Maverick (unless gas is crazy expensive) but the real payback will be 10 years of much more enjoyable driving and road trips.

Everybody can blowhard opinions just like I am.

Simple fact is Ford created a new auto market segment.

Think this way:

Model T

F150

Mustang

Explorer

Maverick

Catch up bitches.

:D

Forgot:
Model A
Taurus
Taurus SHO
F250 etc...

I don’t think so , with auto industry moving towards ev and less gas consumption tacos value will be diminished .

To me, there is more to quality than nothing broken just like there is more to reliability than just being drivable. Nothing on my Maverick is broken, but there are a lot of small fit/finish/execution/polish issues that have really sapped my enjoyment of the truck. Not all were complete surprises to me, but a couple were.

Do you like flex more ? Pretty much the industry did the box car
I very much liked the look and concept of those- but really they're a large wagon, worse mpg and didn't have anywhere near the interior space of a minivan (which I chose instead).
