Like the title says, has anyone got a ceramic coating from their dealer and happy with it, and what did it cost? Picking my truck up next week.

I purchased one with the F-150 I bought for my wife 18 months ago. Had to buy it if I wanted the truck which checked all the boxes except for one. It is supposed to last 7 years but there is upkeep needed for that warranty to be honored. It also came with fabric protection and the cost was $1,700. Another, local, dealer wants $900 dollars just for the ceramic coating.

You could find a good price with a local shop. Near me is a business that provides ceramic coating with 5 year protection for $850. I would look local if you want it done for you.

A bottle of Adams Graphene coating costs $91 or so on Amazon and takes a couple of hours to do a good prep wash and coat it yourself. Your paint should not need any work since it is a brand new truck. This is my path.

A can of Scotchguard will protect my interior. I've used it before on previous vehicles and it is great.

Prices will vary for all of this. You have to decide if the cost beats out the materials and labor you can provide DIY.

Sometimes spending the money is worth it.

I was forced to, would never buy it from a dealer if not. Go to a detailer instead. I am 1000% convinced the dealer used a spray ceramic, as I could still see residue when I picked up the truck. You can do that yourself, for about $17 a bottle during a car wash.

$600 "appearance protection" add on, no way they are doing a real ceramic at that price, just lining their pockts.

I was tempted - the dealer offered a Ziebart protection package for $895. Trouble was not sure what I would have been buying. Ziebart has both "Diamond Gloss" and a "Ceramic Z gloss" protection.

Ultimately I looked online and decided to just do one of the spray on/wipe off hybrid type ceramic coatings. Mother's CMX is like $18 a bottle, gets good reviews for both the shine and ease of use. I haven't done it yet as I'm getting "MAVERICK" letters installed on the tailgate in a couple of days and didn't want some super slick wax to interfere.

I'm sure it's not as good as a professional detailer using pro products. But it's also like 1% of the cost. And my Mav will live most of it's life in a garage.

We did get the ceramic protection plan. $700 for inside and outside with a 7 year warranty. Biggest reason we opted to get it was if you get a rip in your seat for instance its covered and will be fixed at no charge so it seemed worth the investment over the 7 years.

My Mache I had ceramic coated at a body shop and the difference is night and day between them and the dealer. It took them two days to complete the Mache and I think the dealer took an hour for inside and out so you get what you pay for. but for the interior warranty for the seating and the little but better than nothing protection it will give on the outside I figure its worth it.

As long as you clay bar, wash and seal with H9 graphene ceramic coat two times. You should be good. Find some good ceramic coating on with reviews. Or you tube. Just remember: shiny vehicle dosnt mean a good ceramic. Hydrophobic qualities should be essential. Dust usually comes with static. Sprinkling water on the dusted car should remove all contaminations.

If you want the best results research your local detailers and use them. Just like painting, it’s all in the prep work. Dealers are not trained or set up to do a proper CC application. Between the iron decontamination, clay bar, multi-step polish, and CC application we had ~20 hours of labor in my new Maverick because that’s what it takes to do the job correctly. Do it right and you won’t be sorry...

Good luck

I fought with a sales manager over this package. In the end stuck with it, his example was "if you tear a seat, we replace the whole cover, you know how much that costs ?!"

Lo and behold, I got the pamphlet the day picking my truck up. Leather and Vinyl "rips tears and burns" are limited to "Professional reconditioning".

So pretty much the ENTIRE point he made, was invalidated by the actual warranty terms.

Never, ever, repeat never pay for the dealer to touch your vehicle with ANYTHING. Get the new truck, wash and wipe down with IPA/ironx/clay then apply gtechniq CSL. One bottle is $70 or so. Apply C2V3 over top once every 3-4 months to keep it fresh and you won’t need to worry about wax, etc for 3-4 years. I all but had to threaten a dealer with legal action NOT to touch my truck and they finally relented. Otherwise they would have applied $500 of garbage coating that wouldn’t last a month and charge me for it even though I never ordered it!!

How long did it take for the ceramic coating? I was planning on doing it myself but it looks like my Mav will come in the dead of winter.

I have been debating paying a detailer, but looks like I am close to moving where I can use a garage, so I will probably DIY then. Currently in a complex and don't have access to anything out of the elements.

Just hard to cough up at least $600 for the cheapest one, and I can't afford 1k plus for a 3-5 year options. Seems to be the price points around here, and I believe it is worth it, just can't bring myself to carve that out of my budget .

Today I got in touch with a local detailer that does ceramic coatings. He said he'd need the truck for 2 days. In contrast, the Chevy dealer that sold me my Bolt had their paint protection done in a few hours - so basically they did nothing but sell me a paint warranty.

2 days, yes. There is a lot of prep work to be done first. They strip off whatever wax might be on the paint, then do paint correction to make sure there are no swirls or scratches etc, before applying the ceramic. I dropped my Maverick off this morning and the guy was finishing up a beautiful cherry red Kia Stinger.
