If that worked for you, that's what you should do. Custom orders require patience. In my case it was worth it. YMMV.
Sure, but even if I could find a Maverick on a lot for sale it would likely be almost double MSRP. A dealer called me the other day with an XL available. Just $39k. Uh...no. Not even.

I ordered my XLT Hybrid Oct 29th of 2021. It was finally built the middle of Sept. 2022 and shipped fairly quickly. By rail it went from Mexico to Illinois(?). I live in South Georgia. From there, it went to Jacksonville Fl. by rail. Now for the last two weeks, it has been sitting in Jacksonville waiting for a transport.
This is the first new vehicle that I have ordered. So I have no prior experience to look back on. But this has been one process that I never intend to repeat. My hope is that the Maverick will prove to be well worth the wait. If I ever get it.
I’m from south Ga. And ordered Nov7 ,schduled Nov 14 22 still waiting.

Hey at least you have options.

Ford's doing a great job. My year + wait has been swell. I hope to pay more as a thank you when I get my 22 in 23. I'd cancel my order to help them out, but I don't want to be rude.
Update: Ford was nice enough to cancel my 22 order. Now I get less and pay more for a 23. Ford deserves more money for doing amazing customer service.

I ordered mine 9/22/2021, XLT with LUX package. Unfortunately, back in April when they recommended cutting LUX, I did. Finally I got a build date in early Sept. My build date was for 9/19, which was then pushed to 9/26, then 10/3, 10/10, 10/17, 10/24 and finally 10/31...
The upsetting thing is, even if it does get built, it is not the LUX package I initially ordered.
We shall see.
Guess what else I did, ordered my 2023 Lariat trimmed to the max on 9/16/22...I am beginning to think I may be a masochist. Hahahahahaha....the 23 will probably get built before the 22 hahahahahahahahahahshahhahahahahahahaha

Anyone who has waited four months has shown patience. Everyone past six months should be nominated for Sainthood. More than ten ? Schools and hospitals should be named after them. Even when I was a kid, a dinosaur saddle would arrive in six to eight weeks.
I have come to the conclusion that when my 2023 Xl arrives in 20 weeks or Nine months or 12 months it will be well worth the wait and not to get to frustrated about something I cannot control.

At least yours has been shipped. I ordered 10/30/21. It was built 8/31/22 and still hasn't shipped. I live in Florida too.

I ordered around Oct 30 of last year, too, and it was built the week of Sept 19th. I haven't checked the site for delivery progress (I mean, why bother... it gets here when it gets here...). Dealer did call a few weeks ago and said to expect it around Oct 22 or so.

In a nutshell, don't stress yourselves over things you can't control.

Now you are just rubbing it in. 16 months and waiting for at least another week. Congrats.
I've got your wait beat by a week. I ordered 6/15/21. My truck is sitting in Arizona. It's supposed to be delivered this week. 🤞

Not liking the options out there is not the same as not having any options.
An "option" infers something you can do. I cannot afford a vehicle over about $28k. The low $20k price is what first attracted me to the Maverick. The higher the price goes, the less it becomes an "option" for me. I will not finance so unless I have the cash I will have to pass at a certain higher price point.
