At the end of last month, I lost my ‘22 Maverick (VB, hybrid XLT, Lux, SIBL, 360) totaled in an accident. Since then, I have followed a scheme employed by others to find their Mavericks. I reached out to every dealership within 100 miles inquiring whether they had any inventory or expectations of the delivery of special orders. I was having no luck other than being offered several used trucks with significant mark ups. I would leave my name and number asking to be called if a special order was declined. I also did a daily search on Ford.com looking for recent deliveries in my search area. If I found one, a call to the dealership would confirm it was a spoken for special order. Until today!!!

Literally as I was talking to a salesperson at a dealer 60 miles away, he indicated he might have one delivered tomorrow that could be available. Before he could continue, he stopped and said a car carrier just pulled in with the truck he was expecting, a silver hybrid XLT with no other options. I tried to hide my excitement to discuss the dealerships price setting policy. He informed me that they add a 4.5k market adjustment under such circumstances. I sent him off to talk with the sales manager about price flexibility and incentives I might qualify for. While I was waiting for him to comeback on line, I received a text from another dealer telling me she had good news.

She told me she has a special order, cyber orange hybrid XLT, Lux, manual rear window, 360, where the requester has decided orange is not necessarily the new black for her. The offer to me is at MSRP! The rub is although they have a VIN, they do not have a production date. I can have the other tomorrow. For this one, I have to wait on production and shipping. The salesperson assures me that with a VIN it will be produced. They will make a final call to the original buyer to confirm she is passing up on purchasing the truck. With that, it’s mine with a $1,000 deposit.

It is everything I would want, other than color. I have told myself I can close my eyes as I open the door and just tell myself it is blue. My thought is not to let it go and to order a 24 when the order bank opens in July for the color I want. Assuming prices hold while I wait for the 24, I’ll go the CarMax or Carvana route when it comes in. Worst case, if prices fall through the floor, I have an orange Maverick at MSRP. The other remains a possible fall back option. Not a bad position to be in. Comments?
Cyber Orange is a beautiful color especially with the BAP!

I went through a very similar situation. I was able to order a truck last May but was unsure if I would get it, at 10% over MSRP. I too, searched the state (NY) and found a Lariat, AWD, LUX, 360. The person who ordered it passed away a week before the truck came in. Available, MSRP, jackpot! I woiuld tend to lean to ANY dealer that sticks to the MSRP in this buying atmosphere. These honest dealers WILL take care of you. I know you are anxious to get into another Maverick, as soon as possible, but if the MSRP dealer has one .I would take the chance and stick with him. He will take care of you!

If you really want a Maverick, and can deal with the "negotiated" ADM, I'd say get the one that is on hand. There is no guarantee the other one will be built until it shows "in production" - and even then "stuff happens..."

The Cyber Orange Hybrid Lariat that I ordered was just built, and is waiting to be shipped out (per CS, although the tracking site still shows "In Production" instead of "Built"). I'm pretty sure that one will get delivered.

My other order (Cactus Gray Hybrid Lariat) was originally scheduled for the week of July 17, and has an VIN assigned, but after initially showing "Scheduled" it reverted back to "Order Confirmed" on the tracking site. I have no clue if it will actually be built or not. I've contacted CS twice on this one, and gotten conflicting answers. First time they said "It's still scheduled for the week of July 17" but the second time they said it was basically back in "unscheduled, clean" status.

So even though the "msrp" dealership fully expects the one that is "scheduled" to be built to actually come in, there's no guarantee it's going to get built until it is actually in production.

I just committed to purchasing the Maverick that is here and available. I may be able to drive it away as early as this evening. The decision came down to my lack of confidence that the other offer would actually be produced. The plan is to order my third Maverick in July with color and options that I want and sell today's purchase to Carvana when it arrives.

starting calling dealers in Seattle area in January. Bastards all want $10-15k over MSRP for cancel orders.

Got lucky March 20 and bought a Black Hybrid Blackout XLT Lux 360 sunroof with all the upgrades. Only thing missing was the spray liner. Thinking of adding a Bak x4s tonneau.

only had to pay $5000 over MSRP and wait until May 21 for delivery. Lucky I got delivery before Ford froze the delivery.

A new Tremor was being delivered that been canceled. I was going to test drive. But the truck didn't last 30 minutes before some guy bought it for$47,000.

Or a huge bonus, depending on your personal color preferences... I happen to like the CO, and am totally bored by all the black, gray, silver, and blue shades that you see everywhere by every manufacturer. I'd go with white over any of those, although my second choice would be Hot Pepper Red. But that's just me.

I always wanted Orange, but my wife wanted Blue. We compromised and got Blue. Go for the Orange!
