Last night driving home on a country road with nothing on either side and a straight road my pre-collision assist warning light flashed on the dash with a message in red and it flickered on and off about 5 times and then stopped. I had no idea what was going on and it was hard to read because it flashed on and off. No idea why it came on. Temperatures were in the low 30’s but no snow or fog or anything and I had been driving for 20 mins. Didn’t effect the driving at all but scared the crap out of me.

All cars with these systems will experience false alerts from time to time. Completely normal.

Check the camera to see if it is clean.

I experienced a momentary - less than a second - warning in daylight. I was turning a curve and a pedestrian was walking along a sidewalk much too away to be at risk. My supposition is that the system saw the pedestrian as an eminent risk and then corrected itself. Also on an interstate in daytime with the road ahead completely clear I experienced a momentary braking event. Cruise control was engaged. Again, lasted only an instant and immediately returned to set speed. I think there are a few bugs in the system. My hope is that software improvements will eliminate such events. Note that my wife drives a Subaru Forester with very similar features and we haven’t seen anything similar. But the Mav is such a newly developed vehicle (mine was built in October but it had the fuel tank problem so I only got it 2 weeks ago) I expect a few glitches. Hope nothing serious develops.

I had it happen to me last night driving down the HOV lane. The other four lanes were crawling. I was in the HOV lane going through JBLM around 30-35 MPH. So my lane was pretty much zooming past cars. At one point the center stack flashes red and chimes and turns off just as fast as it came on. It never applied the brakes.

I thought maybe someone was jumping into my lane in front of me, but I didn't notice any peculiar movement or anything. It didn't like something in that scenario, just not sure what. The weather was clear but the sun was setting.

Not a big deal. I will still keep the setting on. I expect some false detects in systems like this. Daily driving has 1,000's and 1,000's of scenarios. Limitless, really. Can't program for everything.

There’s gonna be false positives. However you can change the sensitivity in the menu using your steering wheel controls.

I personally have mine set on low.

Its good to know it at least alerts I've yet to even have mine activate. I've turned it to high sensitivity and haven't been able to trip it.

We were pretty surprised when the Pre-Collision Warning showed up on our dashboard today! We don't have Copilot 360, so never expected to see something like that. Is it part of the LUX package?

It's a standard feature on all trims.

Thanks! I had not heard this. Are there any other safety "features" that one should be aware of?

Mine went off a few times and left code’s, it was checked over while in getting oil changed and repaired supposedly but has come on again since then. I will have to look in the paperwork and see if they actually replaced anything, they also did the fuel tank recall replacement of my tank at the same time so it was in for a few days and supposedly fixed my radio (it’s a lot better but still cuts off once in awhile).

Has happened twice, both times taking turns with nothing around but figure it’s to do with speed around turns and camera and sensors.
