So I’m seeing a bunch of orders that either were missed or by some dealerships around the US and some pretty distraught reactions.

I’m not down playing that at all and you have every right to be mad but am I the only one who would just give a shrug and buy something else?

I really am excited for this truck to be built but if the dealer or Ford screw up, I’m just moving on to a different vehicle. That next vehicle might be a mid-size truck, might be a Santa Cruz or might be something without a bed.

Like I said earlier, I’m not downplaying the severity and frustration of a dealer messing up and orders not being placed.

I will never buy a Santa Cruz... I may never buy a Maverick either, but it won't be for lack of trying.

Same here. Sure, I'm really looking forward to it, but there are other options out there. Maybe not quite as good a fit for me as the Maverick would have been, but when I wear whatever else I get out in another 10 years I'll maybe look at a Maverick again.

You forget how important people and their personal desires are. Modern people are a mixture of all the Willy Wonka kids except for for Charlie.

If anything was sitting on the lots where you could buy them I think many would but that isn't the case.

The upcoming refreshed Colorado/Canyon look amazing but who knows when you will be able to actually get one.

Glad I got my Maverick when I did. It does everything I need but I was looking hard at the Frontier before I found it.

I want a truck because of the utility of the bed. I don't need a huge truck because I won't be using it for work, just household type stuff. Therefore, I see no reason to pay what full-size trucks cost. The Maverick really checks all the boxes, small, usable bed, reasonably priced, etc.

That said, my life wouldn't be over if I couldn't get one. I would move on to something else, the problem is there isn't much to move on to.

GM in general doesn't do anything for me so I won't be buying one of those. Same for Chrysler/Dodge/Whatever they are calling themselves now. I have had poor experiences with Nissan in the past so they are out. What does that leave in the truck department?

-Toyota, I have had a lot of great Toyotas but the current Tacoma is just yawn inspiring and the Tundra is bigger and more expensive than I want/need. Maybe there will be a RAV4 based pickup in the future. I love my current RAV4 hybrid, I would buy that.

-Other Ford trucks, all bigger and/or more expensive than I want. I would absolutely buy a regular cab short-bed F150 if I was single, but I have a family.

-Santa Cruz, I just can't get past how it looks. I'm sure it is a great vehicle but I can't see owning one. Plus, the color selection is even more of a snoozefest than most vehicles these days.

-Honda Ridgeline, again, I am sure it is great but it costs more than I want to pay and the looks don't do anything for me.

So, if I couldn't get a Maverick my choices are:

-Bronco 4-door with a hard top and a manual transmission (I would be waiting even longer for that then the Maverick I expect).

-Bronco Sport Badlands (only the Badlands because I don't want the 1.5 liter engine).

Those are also both Fords and I'm not married to any particular brand. However, those are the other two new vehicles that interest me right now.

You're not the only one. I think about this every time someone posts how lucky they are to have paid well over MSRP for a Maverick and not just when someone is upset about order delays or screw ups. Ford was really onto something here and the Maverick is really unique. But it's very much built to a specific price point.

I have limited experience with the Maverick. I hope to love it, but I won't think twice about selling it and finding something else if it doesn't live up to expectations (though I expect it will).

If I were asked to pay over MSRP, I'd move on for sure. I'm not paying over MSRP for any vehicle. Not now, not next year, not ever.

I'm grateful mine finally arrived, with no dealer drama. But if the deal fell through, I would have been very disappointed. The reason is that there is no other vehicle on the market that can do what the Maverick does. It's a perfect truck for big city driving. I wanted a small, economical vehicle that I could drive on city streets, fit into tight parking spaces, but also haul sheets of plywood/drywall or take a new appliance home. No SUV can do that, and all the bigger trucks are at least a foot longer, get half the mileage, and cost at least $15000 more.

I get that the Maverick is practical, that the bed in particular is an appeal. But there are about 10 U-haul rental places in my town that will happily rent a Silverado for $20/day and that's what I'd do in a heartbeat before I'd pay over MSRP for a Maverick. I'd probably do that in the instance I needed a truck and drive something like a Civic hatch on a daily basis.

Those "$20 a day" rentals turn out to be considerably more expensive than that. I rented one from U-Haul to move some stuff, and the daily total turned out to be over $45.

That said, if I only needed it a couple of times a year, that's not too horrible as an alternative to wait out the latest round lf "shortages" from all the manufacturers. But I suspect it's going to be a while longer, since Ian had probably totaled thousands of Florida vehicles...

I'm not "moving on". The Mav is what I want and sticking with it

I mean it doesn't help that there isn't really another vehicle on the market that ticks all the boxes the Hybrid version of the Maverick does. Utility plus Fuel efficiency plus Price? You can find other vehicles that do one or two of those things, but the Maverick is the only one that does all three.

So yeah, when folks can't get their Mav, it means they can't get anything else that does what they want.

At this point many people have been waiting so long that the accomplishment of actually getting the truck has taken on a life of its own

the Maverick checks a lot of boxes for me, but I'm still compromising with the short bed and Crew cab I have no use for and I'm not sold on transverse motor mounting long-term either. I have a trailer work around for the bed issue, and the rear seat area is fine for inside storage and grocery runs. We also have an F-150 that has a lot of good stuff for us, but again forces some compromises as a DD. My Maverick is currently in production, and I expect to be very satisfied with it after doing my homework and even test driving 1 before ordering mine. Having said that, would I buy a 2nd Mav, nope, no reason to. I WILL however keep watching for release and unveiling of the new Ranger. From what limited info I've seen and read on that, it may just check even more boxes for me than the Mav. If that's the case and price is reasonable for a SCab 2WD XL, I'll have a very nice Maverick to trade in at my local dealer and be happy either way.

Selling my daily today, but if my dealer tries to pull some BS imma go to a mazda 3 hatch until 2024 or when the mav will be in high production and just buy one then. I love my mav (even tho its not here yet) but I will not get screwed by a dealer
