I saw a upside down Superbird yesterday on the news, Evin if it was a replica would have been a huge loss. Too bad they dont sandbag Daytona speedway and invite all the cool cars of Florida in there for hurricanes. The high banks should be high enough.
I recall when I was in 8th grade one student actually has a superbird. Guy was tike 18 in 8th grade. Very strange.

Some people are so stupid and leave their cars parked right where the weather man says there will be significant storm surge. I am always amazed when I see all these cars floating, a quarter mile from the shore. If I heard the water was coming, I'd do anything to get my vehicle up higher....especially the MAVERICK!

Unless it's salt water. Then if it got to the bottom of the undercarriage/engine, it's a total loss insurance wise. Because everything salt water touches needs to be replaced. Every component salt water directly touches is destroyed or will have performance or premature life failure.
Ford Maverick RIP Maverick due to Hurricane Ian 1999400

If I had rising water, I would immediately pull out the quick jack and get that thing up in the air.

If this is your car, I guess your insurance will pay for it. But did you not hear the WARNINGS of storm surge?

I think it's obvious to him now that he should have evacuated, so giving him crap for staying is unnecessarily rubbing salt into the wound.

That said, I think that moments like this are important to share. The next time an evacuation order is issued, hopefully people will remember this guy's story and get out.

I wouldn't give anyone crap for not evacuating. That's their choice. But I can't feel sorry for them when it goes bad.

Well lesson learned is all I can say. Next time get the heck out . I know of a few who also stayed and they have no power and are living up on second floor of the house. I said they are dumb for not leaving. I would make it a camping trip. Get my tent and drive right out of FL way up a few hundred miles OUT of FL inland.

As far as the mav hard to tell how high the water got plus was it rain water or ocean water/salt. I have worked on flood cars before and have seen some were the water got about mid door high. This looks much lower than that. The car came into the dealer with frozen locks. I opened the door panel up and saw the water line. Replaced the door actuators and off the car went.

Don't total it until you try to start it. My Civic has had water to the seat rails more than once (New Orleans) it stunk and ran. Just needed time to clean carpets and let it dry out.
For H. Katrina the water went over the roof of our CRX Si. Feel ya

Reminds me of when I was at Ft. Jackson and part of a tropical storm blew through. I had noticed a car parked behind a chapel on post, well that was kind of a dug out area. The next morning even though most places weren't flooded too bad, that car was actually under water. Never would have thought that was possible and I am sure neither did the soldier that parked it there.
