Multiple retail order submissions for MY23 Maverick

I have one XL Hybrid order through my local dealer and I will keep it if I get it within 12 months. If I don't get it in a year, I will look at other brands for a SUV.

Follwing this forum for a couple of weeks now since I put my order in, it looks there are quite many submitted multi order. I'd like to know how many retail customer have submitted multi orders through same or different dealers. I know some will only pick up one order, and leave the 2nd, 3rd order to dealers. Dealer would happliy take those retail order and flip it. What is the effect of this practice on the buyers who are late in line for MY23?

Ordered a Lariat Hybrid on 9/17. Heard about the constraints on Tuesday and panic ordered a Tremor on 9/21 from a different dealer. If the Hybrid comes first I will cancel the Tremor, or offer to my dad. If the Tremor comes first I will drive until the hybrid is available.

I psyched myself out of the Tremor due to how much interest was on this forum and the 8% commodity constraint. So instead, I ordered exactly what I currently have but with Black Appearance Package (I know, also constrained) + 4k Tow Package and in a different color. I will buy and keep the 23, and sell/trade the 22, whichever works out to be the better/easier deal. I wanted to order both, but knowing I only wanted the Tremor for the cool factor, I decided to pass on it. I didn't want to rob somebody else at an honest chance at such a cool vehicle. I know the 4k tow package will be of much more use for myself anyways.

And when 24 ordering rolls around, if there's an ST option, I'll probably do the whole ordeal over again

I ordered two XLT Lux hybrids with BAP. One Hot Pepper Red, one Atlas blue. The red one is for me, ordered in my wife's name* and the blue is ordered in my son's name. It's for him.
*We title all our vehicles with my wife's name first because in NH you buy tags in your birth month. Mine is Dec and I don't want to pay for car tags at Christmas. Both my wife and son are March.

I pre-ordered back in May and was promised that I wouldn't have to do anything when the order banks opened. On the 15th I emailed my salesman to check on my order. He responded 2 days later saying that it was done and that I should get an email from Ford in a few days. On the 18th, still no email, I emailed again and asked if he knew the order banks were closing on the 20th. When I still hadn't heard back, I reached out to another dealer. He took all my info, my dl and put in my order, all within 30 minutes. Got the email from Ford 10 minutes later. Done deal. Meanwhile, original salesman emails the same response as before. Then...90 minutes after the new dealers order confirmation came a second confirmation from Ford showing another order. So I accidentally ordered 2, but I only want 1. And now I'm starting to see some people that ordered are getting their order cancelled by dealers. So maybe I'll just ride it out and see which one comes thru first.

I was in an odd situation where dealers didnt know what was going on so i called around to a few and finally placed an order with the first one that would put it into the system. However one of the other dealers, i spoke with once, put an order in for me without my permission and i did get a confirmation from them as well. However i never gave my license or signed anything so there can't be a COVP.
Anyway only keeping the one i actually ordered and signed paperwork for.

Anyway i clicked the "I panicked and ordered multiple." which is kinda true.

That was my experience with Mossy. Finally on the last day to order a hybrid, late in the day, I got an order confirmation from Ford. However I had placed an order with another dealer on 9/16. Over the phone in 20 min. Got the ford confirmation while I was still on the phone. I'll wait and see how the chips fall but I'll probably cancel with Mossy. I don't think Mossy will come through.

Yes. Got the run around from Mossy. The folks at Penske have been great. We'll see how this all works out.

But it was not really a panic but rational choice.

In July I had a preorder set up for an XL hybrid when the order book was going to open in August.

By the time the order book was open in mid September it was known that only 15% of Mavericks and 35% would be Hybrids. In addition by Sunday it was clear that there were lots of orders so that I would be unlikely to get an XL Hybrid since I also want Co-pilot 360 which is also a constraint.

In addition Ford change the order filling logic from being the order that it was received to a vague plan based on the dealers order allocation. The problem was that not even the dealers knew what that would be. In addition there was no way to know how many orders a dealer had already taken ahead of yours.

I ended up placing a second order for an XLT Ecobost at a different dealer since Ecoboosts should be 65% of Mavericks and the XL T should be 59% of Mavericks.

It seems a lot more likely that I will get the second ecoboost but that order was not entered until Monday so there are likely a lot of order ahead of me at that dealership.

I would rather have the XL Hybrid but my plan is that I will take whichever comes first and cancel the other order before it is built.

I ordered one eco-boost and will keep it until I can trade it for a hybrid or electric compact truck; I’ve got no need for anything bigger, just interested in a modern one with good mpg.
