So, something happened and some scratches showed up on my passenger side rear door. Looks like a grocery cart perhaps. I tried touch up paint but it looked like sh$t.

Luckily, my deductible is only $100 for comprehensive claims (I didn't say it was a grocery cart as I have no idea of the source). It's quite possible someone was thinking of breaking into the truck but saw I had a dashcam. Who knows. No, the camera wasn't running to catch it, but they didn't know that.

So, anyway, not only did the body shop say that it was the first Maverick that they had ever seen, much less worked on, but they said that they noticed that I didn't use a car wash as I had zero swirl marks. No, I don't use a car wash. I will spray off with power wand and then dry off with towels, but I don't put this car through the wash. Or I will hand wash.

I guess it would look silly with one part of the car with swirl marks and then this door without.

I'll have to wait a few weeks before next wash and 90 days before ceramic. Luckily, it turned out perfect.

Oh, just be aware that it will throw some faults while they are working on body work when they cover up for overspray.

You didn't crowd someone in a parking space somewhere, did you? Because when someone parks on or over the line next to my beater car, or older trucks I have owned in the past, I intentionally slam the door as hard as I can into them when I get or squeeze myself back into my vehicle. I'm sure I'm not the only one. LOL

I use the local Self Serve Car Wash near me in Coppell.

Only use the wand for Power Soap washing, Rinsing and Final Rinse. Then wipe down with white towels.

Total cost is only $3.50 per wash.

I like that I have total control in the wash cycle and get to examine the entire truck.

So far with 5,400 miles on my Maverick and a 12 day 2,804 mile vacation trip in early June I have only seen one small rock hit on the top of the roof. It is totally not noticeable unless you are 7' tall or on a ladder and I point it out.

I don't park in a situation like that. Now when I come back, my pickup might be in that situation because of turnover. And no, I don't slam into people's car doors, that is rude. However, if it is so tight that I have to fold in their mirror, I have been known to do that. And maybe the passenger side as well to prove a point.

You are a prime example of why I try not to park next to beater cars, period. I bet you just turn and sock someone in their face if they stand too close to you too, huh...

I'm gonna keep using car washes because it's just a car, who cares. Gonna drive yourself crazy trying to keep stuff perfect.

We intentionally don't buy dark colors because we keep unlimited wash passes on our cars and that's the life they lead. I have tried hand washing on some of our more expensive vehicles in the past and I just find it to be entirely too tedious. It's not usual for our cars to go through the "meat grinder" car wash 3-4x a week. They look fine. Actually, they look great all the time. No stress.

I'm not very familiar with the ceramic coating, why is there is a 90 day delay before using it?

Anyone who intentionally damages someones car even if they did park rudely needs to reevaluate their life.
Last week every spot was taken except the one next to someone who was taking up part of a parking spot at my grandchildren's ball games. There was room for me to be in the middle of my spot with my 2003 Grand Cherokee. So my wife could get out easily my side was only an inch or two from that vehicle. At 74 I crawl over the console and get out the passenger door so as to NOT harm their car. I did leave a note on the windshield saying "Thanks for parking so rudely that I had to crawl out the passenger door", but want to intentionally damage that car? No way.

You're a terrible person, thanks for sharing. Hope you sleep better knowing that you pride yourself on destroying others property. I hope the next car you do that to has cameras and they throw the book at you. Feel free to see yourself out.
