Tonneau cover and car wash

Question about using a car wash. I have the factory installed tonneau cover HD roll up. I did the usual weather strip mods etc. I’m not really worried about water getting into the bed persae but how the care of the leather like tonneaeu does in the car wash. I usually do the top of line car wash including the ceramic coating. Was wondering if anyone else had any experience with this issue?

I have a soft roll up and not seen any issues with a car wash.

Have not had any issues with tonneau in the car wash, though I only run my truck through automated washes part of the year, in the winter. I just keep up on applying a protectant to the cover.

I have the roll up on my truck. No problems at the car wash; but you will find that the brushes don't really hit the cover. You will have to wash it seperately to get it really clean

Same here. I Have a cheap soft roll up tonneau cover and it just does fine in a full touch car wash. I just stop on the way in to vacuum first and confirm that it's secure.

I use the car wash all the time with my tonneau cover no problems and I use 303 cleaner and protector for a better job and extra protection .

Do you have a hard tonneau cover? I'm in the market for one and I see you mention using 303 on it. I guess I hadn't thought of that so I appreciate you bringing that up. How often do you apply the 303 to it?

No its soft . But you might look into getting an extension poll with cleaner heads makes it easier got mine on Amazon . Just follow instructions on the 303 make sure you get the one for covertable tops and tonneau.

OK thanks for the tip. I will look on Amazon and see what I can find and add it to my ever growing list of things to buy, lol.

I have a Gator Hard cover. This cover has a non smooth surface and the car wash is starting to remove paint . I have small silver speckles where the paint has worn off. I only started using a car wash in February so I will be contacting Gator as this is not acceptable.
