Adding Key Fob Remote Start to ‘23 Maverick.

Hey All!

I placed a order for the ‘23 Maverick Lariat Lux w/ the CP360. I did not choose the stand alone option of the remote start to help the cause. Im wondering if i can just go to the dealer, get a key with remote start and have them program it?? Is that a possibility? I know you can turn it on with the Ford Pass App but i rather have on the key. Seems easier and faster.

The VSS+ Alarm Security Package will add this feature, turns your oem keyfob into remote start at a button combo (lock>unlock>lock)
you could also request they add Remote Start standalone to your order prior to creation - people have different results with this at their dealers

It's a small unit about the size of a cigarette pack. Easily installed by you, it basically plugs in, in series with the OBD2. $189 with free shipping from Fairway Ford or order it from your dealer.

According to FordVideoGuy you cannot add the factory remote start later. You can add it to your build though. It's not that they cannot add remote start it is just that it would be a separate remote according to FordVideoGuy.

Remote start was something I really waivered on. I decided not to as I rarely use it on the Escape except during the heat of summer coming out of church. So, it's not like it is a huge deal. Plus, even without it, all trims can use the FordPass app to remote start it when needed.

But isn't the fob without remote start missing the "start" button? How would that work?

You have to lock, unlock, and then lock. Which isn't really that different than having to lock and double-press the remote start button.

OP specifically didn't option the remote start at build. Presumably Ford split it out of the luxury package because it represents some degree of material constraint although they haven't explicitly put it on the constraint list.

They can still add it to the order up until scheduling

I wonder if it is the other way around. The Lux is constrained but the remote start isn't. So, break it loose so people can have it without the lux.

I added the remote start to my order but I’m ok with pulling it if that somehow becomes the reason my truck isn’t built. If the app can still do it, I’d be fine without it.

Heck, I’d be fine without remote start general!
