they likely have the ability to
So would Ford stop a dealer from submitting more orders than Ford would be willing to deliver to that specific dealer?
they likely have the ability to do that (pretty simple it would seem...just look at alloc limit they have on dealer and anything over that gets rejected when they try to put in the order) but my guess is that they didn't.

Short Story is work with a reputable dealer as soon as you hear the order bank date !!

Long-McArthur saved me Monday , from a separate dealer disaster:
- I contacted Leif Johnson Ford here in Austin TX back in Aug, gave the the build, all set.
- Ford moves the Date, I contact Leif again "no worries - ready to place order in Sept"
- Sept 15 I call - Sales Rep has quit. New Sales Rep takes my build again, and my drivers license
- Sept 17 6pm - I call how's it going? - Rep " More docs to sign" emails photocopies of docs to sign w/$500 Deposit
I return all that, get text "yes we got all info and and working to place order"
- Sept 19 - nothing. No email from Dealer or Ford. No Charge on my credit card
8:30 AM I call Long McArthur; Sales Rep has me email build and DL, receive call back in one hour, I get a docusign link an hour after that, 10pm I get email from Ford " Thank you for your order".

Thank you! Chris & Tim @ Long McArthur. My XLT Hybrid is successfully on order

Oh yea my attempt with Leif Johnson? still nothing........Order Bank closed last night,

So let's say my current dealer gets weird about x-plan or pricing or who knows what when I get my VIN. At that point could I try to move my order to some other dealer? I don't necessarily think this will happen but it would be good know if I did indeed have options.

They have absolutely no way of knowing if you had a MY22 order so something does not make sense with that statement. MY23 orders are in no way linked with MY22 orders in their system (they have no way of seeing a Private Offer). Where it may get confusing is if the dealer re-used an Order Number for the MY23. In that case I have no idea on how they would know if they are pulling up the MY22 order or the MY23 order.
FWIW, I was told by my dealer that rollover orders are supposed to use the same order number. Your private offer code also has your MY22 order number built into it. So I think Ford does actually have a way to differentiate MY22 rollovers from new MY23 orders and they're just doing what they've been doing and communicating that extremely poorly.

I also think they haven't committed to building rollovers first because they can't. If you're a rollover and you loaded your truck with constraints, like the black appearance package, you are 100% going to see some new MY23 orders get built before you.

Maybe I'm putting too much faith in FoMoCo, but I think it's all just a communication issue.

Within 2 hours of the order Banks opening I got an email from Ford "thanks for your 2023 order" although I never even called the dealer who I previously ordered it from. They just automatically put it through and somehow went through right away. I'm thinking March or April but more likely June or July it doesn't matter at this point. I'm definitely going through with the purchase at this point because they are very rare and hard to get and Ford inadvertently and through poor planning and unexpected circumstances has created a vehicle enigma.

I got my email from Ford, but they ordered an XL and I wanted an XLT.

Nobody at the dealership is answering.

Should I be able to change that later?
I don't know which day you ordered, but it would move you back to today instead of when you ordered and if it's a hybrid, it might be too late to make the change. If you ordered on Thursday or Friday, I don't think I would do it.

Well I certainly tried. I got a hold of the internet sales manager at Galpin about 10 minutes before 7:00, and he refused to make the changes. He said Ford has made such a mess of this thing that he thinks that they will be able to make changes in the next few days.

In other words I'm getting an XL, if they ever even make any.

Frustrating mess Ford has created.
Yeah that definitely sucks. Obviously my response before wasn't accurate.

I agree Ford has made a mess but I disagree that Ford made this particular mess. I mean the dealer put the order in wrong.

the truck shows up at the dealer you ordered it from , you can't redirect it.

There has been so many changes in how they are handling the 23 orders compared to the 22's but I do think Ford is taking a hard line on changing trims.

Agree there were issues with the dealer. With how big Galpin is, they needed more than two people putting in all the orders.

But they are claiming that with how the system was completely unaccessible in the first 24 hours, they simply did not have enough time to put in the over 400 orders. The dude claimed they had another hundred orders that they could not get in.

Wow, you'd think with how much demand the 2022's had Ford would have gauged the 2023's. You always hear about chip shortages and this and that, but it doesn't stop them from cranking out the F150's...I guess F150's don't have chips or constraints like Mavericks...

I was able to get in a Galpin Order, but it was a nightmare, being the biggest dealer in Cali, they were really behind the 8-Ball. I placed my order 2 months ago for the August ordering date, before Ford had announced that they were pushing orders back to Sept. I was able to get a confirmation email on Sunday. Yes, they told me that they had 500 orders...

Hey fellow orderers, we hadn't even considered getting a maverick until 2 days ago and I had zero time to research before hurredly placing an order before orders close.

Are other dealers charging ADM on ORDERS? I went to our local dealer to confirm if they are honoring x-plan and he said no and currently they are MSRP+$3k on orders. I was in shock as I thought ordering at MSRP (in this market climate) was your reward for waiting forever versus paying ADM off the lot.

Anyway I know from Mach E research that only 2 dealers in NoCal (Walnut Creek and Morgan Hill) have a no ADM policy so I went straight to Walnut Creek and ordered seamlessly, got confirmation build sheet and email from Ford today. Thanks Walnut Creek for being an honorable dealer!
The dealer I placed my order through in the Sacramento area told me no ADM over MSRP and no deposit required. I did have to sign a document confirming my order but it explicitly stated that the buyer has the option to not purchase the ordered vehicle for any reason. I fully anticipate an ADM when the order arrives and if that happens I will absolutely decline the purchase. Still, I'm not sure I even want the vehicle. I built the XLT but think I would have preferred the Lariat if I do want the truck.
I have never owned a truck of any kind and thought it was cool when I rode in one but am not sold on it. It sounds like I will have a lot of time to think about it and am confident that the dealer will have no trouble selling it should I decline.
