I think the ‘full size’ spare hybrid on the hybrid is actually a smaller diameter tire. With AWD you need all 4 tires to have the same overall diameter. This is likely why it’s not offered with the AWDs unless you’re willing to pay the additional cost.
Is it really a ‘full size’ spare then? Semantics perhaps but full size to me denotes same size as what’s on the car. Maybe it just means ‘no -donut’?

I agree, but yeah I think they’re claiming full size bc it’s not a donut with a skinny.

Interesting point. This will be my first hybrid. Those that have had hybrids in the past (seen a few of you on here in different threads), what was the spare situation?

I’ve had to have runflats on my MINIs. I never understood those who had them and took of the runflat and relied on a slime bottle but many did. Don’t remember on my Lexus but it had different sizes on front and back.
Neither our Tucson Hybrid nor our CRZ came with a spare.
If you like run flats Nokians are awesome. I blew out a WRG3 at 70 from a crater of a pothole and it held together and got me home. Their new One tire has free lifetime replacement if the sidewall fails.

It is highly likely the hybrid is receiving the FS spare due to some sort of drivetrain requirement related to being a hybrid. Of course yes I am speculating, we all are - but I am sure Ford didn't sit around and say hey, we know this is base cost engine and all, maybe we should throw them a bone with the FS spare?

And then on the 2.0 side take it away purposefully...

Now, I almost missed adding the FS spare as well - it is definitely NOT clear in the descriptions when it is/is not included - at the very least it is not explicitly stated. Could they have done that better? yes. Could they have simply included it in the higher trims and added the $115 into the trim/engine cost? sure. Perhaps there are other constraints we don't know of as well. Perhaps they have a bunch of donuts laying around they want to use up! The bottom line is we aren't the company, accept it, say our peace, move on, etc. The sky isn't falling over this!
And to add to all of this, the "Full size" spare will not match the other 4 tires in profile size and is the rim just a steelie ? I love trying to solve these Ford mysteries :)

There have been photos from the dealer training sessions that show it is a steelie.

The debate over the full size spare tire boggles my mind. Probably one of the cheapest things you can get for your vehicle. Suck it up and add it on. What is it, less than $2/month as part of your payment? Yes, it sucks to have to add on. Every car I had since I got my license in the late 90s included a spare. Then with my last car (Chevy Spark) I had no idea a spare wasn't included until I got a flat and opened my hatchback to find an empty wheel compartment and a stupid tire inflation kit. My buddy owns a tire shop and I bought a used tire and got a new full size spare wheel on ebay.

Keep me in mind if you're looking for a matching full size spare, I upgraded to the black painted wheel (as shown in my avatar) on the Lariat Hybrid but chances are I'm getting new shoes once the truck arrives.

One thing I likely can't get on ebay is the rear window defogger which, until this thread, I had no idea wasn't included in any version of the Maverick. That's a huge blunder by Ford, in my opinion. I'm gonna have to do all sorts of RainX/anti-fog type shit to my rear window if I plan on staying in South Florida.
Haven't had a rear window defroster since my '94 Taurus. Been a while. If you live south of Missouri you really don't need one. I only scrapped twice last winter.

There might be some confusion as to whether we're talking about a defroster or defogger. I definitely need the defogger but obviously don't need a defroster in FL. Though, I probably would road trip through some of the colder states.

It's kind of funny in B/P it just shows a picture of a generic tire - Are they also going to charge for the rim ? ROFL

So you want to start name calling?

Get this....THIS TRUCK IS NOT IN PRODUCTION YET! Flat out nothing else is going to matter. Either sit tight or move on.
Your reply doesn't even make sense in the context of what I wrote. I don't even know how to respond.

I built and ordered a loaded XLT -$33k I couldn't stop adding *sh** -)
Go for it. I was able to reduce my build to around $30k because I stuck to my budget. My original build was around $35k, and that is near a Ranger.

I mean the Mav is a cool rig but definently the loss leader @ 20k truck yada yada, once you add 2L/AWD it gets real quick but we have zero interest in a Ranger or whatever after bailing on the Bronco

This is the stupidest rant thread ever. Don't like it? Nobody's forcing a gun on your head to buy it. Get something else that's sitting on a lot somewhere.
This is the stupidest post ever? Could use the same argument about your post. "Nobody is forcing a gun on your head" to read it. Scroll to a post that you agree with.

Feel good? Could we just be good to each other? No point in calling names. Can't we disagree without all the fuss?

You can like a thing and still criticize it. I don't know why that's so hard for so many of you to understand.

Some of you seem to be ignoring Ford's wording on the spare tire was initially, at a bare minimum, confusing. It's valid to criticize that and nobody is acting like the sky is falling over it. Grow up.

I’ve ordered 4 new model, 1st year cars. 3 of them Fords. I firmly believe all this rancor is due to having too much info! Before forums and other internet postings you could really do Some nice dreaming about how great it was gonna be when my new car got here. Itll be great when our trucks get here and there’s no reason to get upset about any of it! Some of y’all are putting too much stress on yourselves when it’s really just mental games. Why add this much stress to yourselves It will come when it comes and in the meantime….
Be nicer to yourselves and to other forum members and relax a little!

Man I am starting to believe that the Ford fanboys are worse than the BMW fanboys that I normally deal with.

At least the BMW fanboys recognize when bmw shits the bed on something and justify it with " is a bmw, it makes up for it with performance and handling" but the Ford fanboys won't even acknowledge any wrongs and revert to uncivilized teenagers to defend their brand regardless of facts.
