All of those people on Facebook declaring that the Maverick isn't a "real truck" can kiss my tailpipe. Sure, it's a smaller truck--but it sure does truck stuff well! Getting ~47 MPG doing it is icing on the cake.

I love my truck!

I see you got Velocity Blue, the best color ever. Still seeing my XL hybrid build date as September 12. From the beginning, Velocity Blue orders should have received priority.

Here's another VB I saw earlier. DIYed rack system that looks very functional.

All I can say is when I look up a Mav in the Ford parts catalog, it's listed under cars. I love my Mav but I've had plenty of "real trucks" and this is/feels like a car with a pickup bed. I usually refer to it as a Ute.

And yet on Ford.com, the Maverick is listed under "Trucks & Vans", right next to the Ranger and the F-150, and similar vehicles.

Ford shaped it like a truck, even if the body is not a separate piece that is mounted onto a frame. Ford specifically styled it with the cues used on their trucks, such as the C-clamp headlights, and a little truck symbol hiding in the radar sensor.

It's clear what Ford intends it to sell as, regardless of what some may call it.

Is it a Cruck or is it a SUT? I think it's what happens when a Ranchero is allowed to breed with an F150!

I personally friggin LOVE it. It does enough "truck things" for me and it actually fits in my garage... where vehicles belong. I haven't towed enough to really tax it I also haven't tried it off road yet. But the small trailer loads I've had you could barely notice (@1500#) I have the 4k tow. Once I take off the sorry pirelli HTs I will put it in some sand and see how she eats. 😁

Personally I see myself getting a trailer rather than the various extreme extended bed solutions.

Well... at least is not an Odyssey that has had a wild night with some random pickup 😅

I don't think being a car with a pickup bed is a bad thing- the ride is way better than any truck I've owned in addition to tons of other benefits.

But I'm not taking my Mav mudding, I'm not going to tow people stuck on the beach, or exploring new-to-me overgrown old logging roads, etc. That would take a "real" truck. When you have to point out how Ford markets it to customers and styling cues to legitimize the terminology you choose, I think it's a stretch. Just my 2 cents.

My Maverick truck can do everything that my 1989 Toyota pickup truck could do--including exploring old logging roads. I guess that wasn't a truck either? ;)

Perhaps we have different ideas of what these old logging roads are like. I don't have nearly enough ground clearance for the ones I have in mind.
