I basically lived out of my '89 Toyota Long Bed Pickup for a year between high school and college, when I was travelling across the country to climb and kayak. All of my stuff fit under a flatform that I built in the back, and I had a really cozy bed on the top. A cap with screened windows kept me dry and bug-free. It was awesome!

No, my Maverick's bed isn't long enough to do that. But that doesn't mean it's not a truck, right? The regular bed Toyota of the time wasn't long enough either--and it was a truck!

I think it's amusing how people define "truck." For some, a truck has to have 26 inches of clearance, 6WD, a turbo V20, and enough capacity to haul 1,000,000 pounds of iron mill tailings. For others, a truck only has to have a bed big enough to carry a flower basket--and a truck registration card.

At least almost everyone seems happy with their Maverick, whether it's a "truck" or a truck.
