I know the Maverick is standard with pre-collision auto braking. I have yet to be in a dicey situation, but I have it set to highest sensitivity, and yet I never receive any warnings, etc when approaching a stopped vehicle.
Honda vehicles I’ve driven in the past have warned me with audible noises and graphics if approaching a stopped car, but the Maverick has yet to make the pre-collision function known.
Maybe it is conservative and not as reactive as Honda’s safety sense, but just curious whether it will ever kick in if I need it to.

Anyone verified the auto-braking is functional? I don’t want to risk hitting a vehicle just to test to see if it is awake or not, but no clue whether mine is active. 😄

Nooooo, never try it out on another vehicle, but maybe a few plastic garbage pails @ 1 mph in your driveway or maybe your boss? :ROFLMAO:

I got the pre-collision warning once when approaching a car in a tight turn ahead of me. I guess the angle fooled it. No actual emergency braking....but I feel certain that would have occurred if I had gotten any closer. It was startling, but I feel better knowing it seems to be functional.

I got the warning once. I was getting into the left turn lane faster than usual and my Mav thought I was too close to the car in front when I turned.

I will get the warning quite often, must be my driving technique. A good way to set it off is first to go through a car wash to get any bug residue off so the radar is working well, then when you come up behind someone that is turning into a driveway and is almost stopped but his tail is still sticking out partway into the roadway, don't even slow down, but plan on an evasive steering maneuver so you won't hit the car. Your Maverick won't know you plan on swerving to miss the car and will set off the warning red dash lights and the alarm. It's really quite impressive. I've never had it slam on the brakes yet, but the adaptive cruise control will do that quite well, so I know my Maverick at least knows how to do it.

Huh. When you put yourself on the verge of imminent crash, the crash prevention systems kick in. Who knew!

😂 it’s not the ACC radar that sets off the AEB, there’s a camera in front of your rear view mirror that does it. Just sayin…

I hear what you’re saying but they are 2 independent systems which they should be. The ACC will alert you sooner when engaged but the AEB will be actually overriding the ACC to apply emergency braking. Don’t get me wrong the ACC will apply brakes when ENGAGED…

I just stood in front of my Mav while my buddy drove it towards me at 5mph or maybe even faster lol. AEB kicked in and stopped it we'll before me! And yes I was prepared to run out of the way if it was unsafe lmao

I have had the warning a few times. usually when passing a parked car at the wrong angle. I have not felt the braking though. One time it was close, can in front of my slammed on his brakes. I still didn't feel the auto braking (it is turned on), but I slammed my brakes soon as the red warning sounded. How close do you have to get to get the braking to kick in?

Eminently close to reduce speed of impact.. so it’s not a severe impact.. I hope this helps..

I have had the warning flash on me a few times. Typically I am accelerating and check the next lane to see if it is safe to merge. My guess is it realizes I am not looking at the vehicle I am accelerating towards. I should probably look around and find out how thie system works.
