I'm cautiously optimistic that the second year of the Maverick will be the charm. Did anyone else catch FVG last night saying that the chip shortage is all but history for Ford? Kind of a surprising remark to say the least.

Lets see if they redesign that headliner /roof weather strip- That design is just borked -

Ford appears to take delight in keeping people in the dark but I wonder if it's simply outdated management at corporate. I would prefer a 2023 now because I fully intend to have it sold before delivery. However, no one can predict precisely how this situation is going to be resolved. I went to the Ford web site and built a Maverick with the same options as the one I ordered in January and it was about $2,000 more without transportation.
I don't see Ford offering much in the so called private offer. Many of the manufacturers have figured out shortages are good, for their bottom line. So why be generous.
Even if the chip shortage ends tomorrow I don't see the car companies spewing them out like before.
In essence the world has changed and if you have an order in for a popular model you're the new dealer. Without the overhead. All you have to do is flip it and get back in line.

I ordered my EB, fx4, tow, moon, etc on 11-17 no constraints ever, got a build date of 6-21 and truck shipped on 7-1. Not delivered to dealer yet.

As an example, this was just posted on an F150 forum from someone who recently took delivery. Enough folks made squawks about the rear axles coming rusted, turns out Ford is now coating them from the factory!
This is a fairly significant change for the F-150 that Ford has not made any real mention of, but you better believe Maverick will see its fair share of changes in build quality as well. Unfortunately we won't actually know of them until folks take delivery and start noting the quality changes/improvements.
What exactly was the issue? I heard something about a finish on a crankshaft so they drill holes in the pan?!? I worked for a gearbox company that had small leaks that I had to fix at some Ford plants. At the seal journal the grinder didn't do a plunge and then out but traversed the wheel off the journal resulting in a microscopic spiral that "pumped" a little oil under the seal. Fixed it with a Speedy Sleeve.
Exactly. I wanted my truck to have everything I ordered it with (which wasn't much, just a spray in bed liner). When I found out that was a constrained item, I chose to keep it anyway. Why? Because getting it a few months earlier wouldn't be worth being irritated about either have to get it done after purchase or grumbling about every scratch that I put in the unlined bed!

I cannot say with absolute certainty, but I suggest that many first year production issues which are detected during model year production are often fixed, if possible, during the year. Sure, I imagine some issues due to time and supplies aren't fixed "on the fly" but as the model year changes. It is sometimes this reason why we see part numbers supersede(replaced) in the parts catalogue, or they issue technical service bulletins which often provide for covered repairs beyond the normal warranty period should the customer come in for service complaining of issues addressed by this bulletin.
Would I expect wholesale changes between one model year to the next; not unless there was a major issue, or it represented a safety concern which would be addressed by potentially having to issue a recall.

I was hesitant on getting the lux package in the first place. I can take it or leave it and I was without a car at the time so the earlier I got it the better
With an entire weekend for the 23 retool, I expect the changes to be astonishing! AWD hybrid, Lightning, Tremor, Adrenaline, Thunder variants all up and running. 48 hours is a lot of time.
