I made this bed cover using a 6 by 8 foot vinyl fence section from Home Depot, 1 roll of 3M double stick tape, and 4 six

foot lengths of aluminum "U" channel. It took me 3 hours start to finish and cost me roughly $225.00. I am very pleased with the results. The panels ( individual ) slide out from front to rear and are trapped by the tail gate. It won't be water tight but will keep things from getting soaked.

Nice craftmanship. If it were mine I would paint it black, but of course that is your choice.

Very clever. Kind of a pain to get quick access to the bed when your out and about.

That’s what I’m talking about! I can really get beyond the creativity and execution.

I’m an urbanite and mostly want a tonneau cover for aesthetics. Security is secondary.
Also, extra weight drags the overall MPGs down, so lightweight accessories are ideal for me.

Questions:
1). Are the U channels only held on with 3m tape?
2) do you think it will hold any weight?

Not a pain at all. Completely removed and stowed behind the front seat in less than a minute.

Yes 3m tape rated at 30 pounds. it isnt designed to hold any weight. If the tape fails, I will then screw it to the bed.

Very nice but I think your close in cost to buying one that would be made to fit and keep out water! Looks nice though!

Nice work!
Wonder if you could put little hinges on the bottom side so you can push it forward so it would fold up in the bed, then pull and it will hinge flat.

But to make it easier to pull out you can put some rope thru the fencing so it all comes out in one peice. It will still fold up but will be all linked together.

Great idea! there are doubtless many possibilities as to improvements ad modifications that could be made.

What a great look. The white fence with the black around it. Looks perfect to me.
Thank you. The white isn't a perfect match but I can live with it. I think that paint would not adhere real well especially where the panels tongue and groove.
