Haven't seen a pic of a full size spare on a Maverick yet figure it will be a steel wheel but wonder is the tire some generic tire or the tire optioned on the vehicle. Feel like if having the same tire would make sense especially for the 235 A/T vs a generic 225 A/S but this may be more than Ford would bother with adding in the spare.

Wait and buy a matching tyre and rim at a junk yard, then use 5 tyre rotation. The steelie will suffice until then

Good question and don't have the answer.
Maybe I am just getting old and getting down and up again takes longer than doing the job but I find 5 tire rotation a PITA to lay on your back to retrieve and remount the spare, plus of you have a third party rotate tires they usually just do the 4 tire rotation. In the old days 5 tire rotation was easy when the spare was matching and in the trunk or fender mounted

Yah I'm not as concerned about the rim as much as my luck in using the spare would be during a snow storm. I ordered the more aggressive 235 A/T so I can imagine the horrible traction if the full size spare is Conti procontact mixing with them.

I found buying a 12v impact wrench a speed jack and tire ramps to make rotation Trivial, until I broke my back. Now I need to add a crawler

Instead of laying on my back, I just winch the spare down onto a piece of cardboard. I give it maybe two more cranks (not too much, otherwise the cable or chain will unspool), which is just enough slack to easily slide the spare halfway out from under the vehicle. Unhook the winch and slide the tire completely out from underneath.

I used to do the 5-way myself, but now I just take it to the local Discount/America's Tire. I mention the 5-way and they get 'er done with 2 or 3 guys faster than I can solo (and I'm a former mechanic and amateur road racing pit crew member) and at no cost since I bought the tires from there. They also re-pair the TPMS sensor also at no cost. I go there often enough that the manager knows me and so do about half the staff.

(All five tires have TPMS sensors, but the Frontier can only have four paired at a time to the TPMS computer. With a 5-way rotation, one sensor will always need to be re-paired).

So I gotta ask you 5 tire rotation folks: Does this business end the first time you get new tires?

My TPMS light just came on after switching my spare. The main cars sensor for TPMS can be reset?

Like always I went to Discount when it came on and when the rep got to my car and we started it again the light was gone, always!!!

He mentioned unhooking the battery to do a hard reset. Legit?

Tyres last longer, and you buy 5 at a time. Averages out the same or a little better because wear patterns are different than 4 tyre rotation.

Both my 2000 and 2013 F150s came with the same brand and size spare as the rest.

probably, I usually use a odb2 module connected via BztL to my phone to reset codes. Presumably a 5 or 10s battery pull will pull it from active memory, but the trouble code will be in LTM still.

My two cents; for how many different packages would include that full size spare were I interested in the hybrid (I'm not), I'd at least like that $115 dropped from the final cost when all is said and done. My dealer was even confused about that being included for hybrids only...

Hybrids it is very important to have 4 matching tyres on the ground else they get wonky in the control system so if you had a donut it would need to go on the back. At the least. I suspect the AWD units should all have FS spares too.

I definitely understand that argument, but would then have said the same regarding AWD. It just feels like a lame way to save a few bucks on Ford's end, as has been said above. And I understand that $115 is a decent price for a wheel and tire, but when I'm selecting $8k in options, that full size spare seems like a pretty minor concession.

Still love Ford as a brand, though, and super excited for the Mav, don't get me wrong!

I mention the AWDs but I don’t know their specs as well, so I just “suspect” they have FS Spares
