I wished Ford would do this for its other models....

I believe they are bound by contracts with dealers and laws in some states to have a dealership.

Change the laws and contracts. The dealerships could still order their own stock, service vehicles, and sell used vehicles, no reason new sales orders should not be entered direct online. I know what I want and I know what I am willing to pay for it and if they don't match I will move on to the next manufacturer.

After my terrible experience with my Maverick (which isn't even over yet as I wait for it to be delivered), I can say with complete confidence that I will never walk into another car dealership to buy any vehicle. I will overpay from Carvana, Tesla, or anyone else to complete an online order and never deal with a stealership again.

Exactly this whole maverick experience has me never again buying a ford or anything without clear expectations and timelines. This model would let me possibly (doubtful) consider a ford again in the future.

Didn’t Ford also say dealers would not be allowed to place ADMs on the Lightning deliveries, and yet some already surprised customers with markups when they go to pick up their new EV truck.

Here is a third article related to this. This is from Ford Authority Newsletter. Basically, the same, for EV's. It does state that dealers will be provided with vehicles so the buyer can test drive the vehicle before purchase. That has been a problem with the Maverick, IMHO.
Article is just a bit of a different view on the subject.

After my terrible experience with my Maverick (which isn't even over yet as I wait for it to be delivered), I can say with complete confidence that I will never walk into another car dealership to buy any vehicle. Same. I've only bought 2 new vehicles in my life. First one was with a salesperson friend who gave me the friends and family discount so it was an easy buying experience, and second one being this maverick, which was the total opposite. Even though I got it at msrp, the fighting and hard negotiations I had to go thru was brutal and unnecessary. Never will I go thru it again.

The lack of communication, unresponsive correspondences, and outright lying from these dealers are borderline criminal and definitely unethical. The dealership business is booming - every article written cites record profits despite low inventory, and we all know what the reason is. It's not so much that they are only acting in response to supply and demand; I get that. I just don't like being lied to. If there's a mark up, then I want to know up front. Springing an 11th hour ADM is a shock to the system. I'm perfectly fine paying a premium if it's laid out in front of me in the beginning.

Like I've always believed, that warning memo was all lip service for good publicity.
