So after 8 months of radio silence, I am bracing myself for the bump to 2023. Are there any sorts of price protections for being bumped model years if I already have the deposit down?

First, I do not believe there are any guarantees that are set in stone for any price protection if we rollover. It is likely, based on past experience, that price protection will exist for what you have on order. Selecting additional options that you do not now have would probably be priced at MY23 prices. Changing trim option would probably cause the loss of all your price protection. Changing from hybrid to EB or vice versa would also probably affect your overall price protection. From what I have read, the latter two changes would likely cost you your place "in line" ahead of non-rollover orders.

All I said is speculation on my part. Others with more firm info or opinions based on firm info may disagree with all or most of my statement. Interested in what others may think also.

If August 16th is opening of order banks, I hope Ford puts out all necessary info for us to make decisions well in advance.

Fordvideoguy has addressed this in the past, but I do not recall he is stating that anything is 100 percent certain.

My concern is an across the board price increase on all trim levels. I have waited this long because it is still a better deal. But if the price goes up to what they were selling, say, a ranger or Tacoma for a year ago at this time, I'm gonna be pretty upset

If prices go up across all trim levels, as they likely will, you will be likely price protected if you do not change the trim you selected. Just saying, nothing out in concrete yet that I know of.

Although Maverick may have more demand increase, percentagewise, than other models, other models will probably go up also. I doubt Maverick's price after it goes up will reach what a similarly equipped Ranger or Toyota MY22 costs.

Ford hasn't announced anything yet about price protection for 22 MY that have to be bumped to 23MY (for Maverick or any other vehicle line). I do expect that they will do something, but we just don't know what yet.

I doubt that there will be a price protection. To get a MY23 you need to submit a completely new order, right? Ford would need some way to link your cancelled MY22 order with a MY23 order.

I cribbed the following from @JohnHartshorn 's comment a while back and saved it in case I needed it. Looks like it came in handy. Haha.

"From what Tim Bartz said in one of his videos, the order will go to priority 99 (Do not build) at some point when Ford is sure it won't get built. You will have to get with your dealer to make sure all the options and configurations are still valid with the MY23 options and make any necessary changes. Your dealer will then have to put the new MY23 configuration back to priority code 10-19, which will put it back in queue with the original order date. You should be price protected. Do not let your dealer cancel the MY22 build and start a new MY23 build, as that will change your order date to that day."

From the mass email Ford sent all the folks with unscheduled orders.

"We understand this news is frustrating and expected timing for your Maverick order is the most important information we can share. We will continue to keep you informed on the status of your order timing as we continue this journey together. Expect another update in June for those customers whose Maverick orders are still unscheduled."

Agree we don't know what the plan is yet. But I bet something about price protection or being pushed to 2023 will come in June.

This sounds reasonable but (at least in my case) I know my dealership would screw it all up and probably be last in line for a 2023. I wish all dealerships were like Tim Bartz and were on top of info but there not, sadly

What Tim said is what happened with the Broncos that had to be moved to the next model year. In the case of the Broncos only orders before a certain date were price protected.
So we still don't know about the price protection for the Maverick. I assume Ford will do something (which is one of the reasons that they cut off the retail orders....to not have a huge number of orders that will have to be bumped to the next model year).
