I had a ranger with just the rubber mat. It was fine but the the bed looked very tough when we finally sold it. My son used the bed rug, but the warm climate rotted the rug in a few years.

That is more than I paid for the one through Ford. Not sure who made the mat I have but it is heavy duty foam with a good scuff resistant skin." Black Armour " will soon be making a custom fit bed Mat for the Maverick.. It's a heavy duty mat; 1/2 inch thick . Priced at $ 270 US / $320 CDN .

Use it more often than my straps
No problem. Works good to snug stuff up against tailgate too. Useful if you have a tonneau and don’t want to roll it up to get to front of bed.wow. did not know they existed. thank you for sharing.

The belt and suspenders approach.... nothing wrong with that.I purchased the SIBL and the rubber bed mat. The best of all worlds.
Lol....I did the same thing. Same setup I had in my previous truck too.I purchased the SIBL and the rubber bed mat. The best of all worlds.
That could work. As for myself, I am quite happy with the steel bed... SIBL and a Bed Mat. ( and I have a Brain) ,I wonder why Ford didn't take a play out of the Toyota book and install a composite 4-foot bed. No delays in production, no bedliner, no spray in liner and just offer a rubber bed mat for those needing more protection.
They should have no problem taking a Toyota idea, since they copied the hybrid design.
The bed is no bigger than a child's sand box. Composite has worked fine for 6 1/2-foot beds and will never rust. No brainer for someone with a brain.
I'm glad you caught that 4 foot mistake. I should have said 4 foot 6.4 inches. Now, after 10 years, I could find no faults with a composite bed. If I wanted mulch, stone or soil, the vender would dump it in the bed and I would shovel in out without worrying about shoveling tar, scratching the paint or rust. Never any tar or black marks on anything I carried in the bed. That could work. As for myself, I am quite happy with the steel bed... SIBL and a Bed Mat. ( and I have a Brain) ,
I 'm sure the Toyota composite has some advantages but must have disadvantages as well. And the Maverick bed is 4.5 feet long.
All good discussion. I had no idea Toyota had a composite bed ,it seems like a great idea.I'm glad you caught that 4 foot mistake. I should have said 4 foot 6.4 inches. My point was Ford could have delivered the trucks earlier with a little forward thinking. They started making the F150 with an all aluminum bed. Maverick has a aluminum hood, why not a aluminum bed. Just questions.

I would have preferred just the painted bed, but the spray in liner is part of the package. I prefer the soft, carpet like Bedrug.I wish I just got the bed rug since I have a soft tonneau cover. I’m mostly hauling furniture and other personal items, but the bedliner has been quite a nuisance. When you pull items off the bed, it can potentially leave black stains or scratch the items.
I’m using a rug now to prevent this but I feel like I wasted $500
Not sure any of those options were possible since the Maverick doesn’t have a separate bed. The cab and bed are all one body in white unit unlike Taco or F150.I'm glad you caught that 4 foot mistake.
