5601 slides on easier than the 5600 (I gave up on the 5600 and had the 5601 and went with that and something was weird so I went back and re-evaluated and decided the 5600 should work because the pins are in the same place, and I realize I just wasn’t being patient enough)

I went to put in my rear speakers tonight and discovered I have a different plug? I ordered the 72-5600 based on this thread but the pins on my harness are smaller.

Any idea what adapter this is?

I can’t find one of the pics I took connected, but when comparing both together you can see the pins are on the same place (this one the 5600 pin was bent because of how I tried to push it in the first time)

but yeah, it’s not a perfect fit but they worked for me and others have used them as well (like I said earlier in the thread, I didn’t think they worked and then re-tried and got them to work)

anyway, I found these that people on the bronco forum are using (and pretty sure they have the same plugs) but finding the same in bronco threads…. Some saying the 5600 won’t fit, others saying they used them and they fit fine with no issues. These appear to be a more perfect fit (and actually clip in)

Those might have worked for me. The connection blades on the 5600 were way too big. Hard to tell but I’m the second picture I posted you can see the speaker has narrow pins instead of blades. Maybe some mid model part change or they use whatever they got that day.

That said, swapping the rear speakers made a bigger difference than I expected. Really fills the sound out. For $200, it’s a hell of an upgrade. I’m satisfied enough with the sound I won’t install a sub just yet.

Great job. The Morels are great replacement speakers. Where did you pick up the Morel speakers with brackets and harnesses?

Crutchfield .... they give you the brackets and harness for free ! which is like $27 elsewhere ,free shipping and great return policy .and great customer service also. this is exactly what I ordered below fit perfectly without no alteration . you just have to snap the ears off the brackets so speaker drops in instructions included .I was going super slow and careful with the first door took me under 2 hours going back and watching videos etc ,then the second door was completely done in 45 minutes or less as I got passed the learning curve . they sound way beyond my expectations. If you want car thumping bass you need to do more but if you just want to improve the sound 5x this is it. The stock speakers really are that bad they are trash.

Crutchfield is awesome! They have been my go-to place for car audio for years and years.
Do you have any issues with the plastic door panels rattling after the upgrade? Or did you add sound deadening stuff like Dynamat?

Yikes, here are a couple of good reads for you and your wife to consider.

Took me a long while to remove the R-word from my day-to-day vocabulary, but very glad I was able to do so. I didn't even consider doing so until my nephew was born. He's one of the first people I've actually grown to know that's on the spectrum. He's also one of my all time favorite human beings.

The Effects of the R-Word (spreadtheword.global)

The Use of the R-Word and Why It's a Problem | Wheelock College of Education & Human Development (bu.edu)

I grew up spewing the R-word, now it makes me sick to hear it or even read it. It's become cringe-worthy, in fact I literally did a bit of a cringe reading your post.

Also, it's you're.

That's all for lecture today, I hope this message finds you and yours well!

I'm on the spectrum, in fact I spoke at the Utah Valley University Autism conference 2 weeks ago and am one of the main speakers at another ASD conference in May. I could not possibly care less if anybody uses that word and the same could be said for 99% of ASD people I know.

People in general are less offended then white knights think they are; being offended for them doesn't do any good.

Sorry folks it is a generational thing ,not making excuses and I hear you but being 66 years old (and no excuse) the R word is interchangeable with crazy , nuts ,ridiculous etc etc did not mean to offend anyone and BTW it is not part of our daily vocabulary... THINK joke, kidding, with no ulterior connotation in my garage with no one else around.. I will say people today are awfully sensitive. but thanks for the vocabulary lesson Dave ..you see I am lacking in many areas much appreciated!

I was going to add some sound deadening but when I took the door panels off (my truck was built the end of January) FORD has installed a plastic covered cushion looks almost like a disposable diaper but stronger which covers about 80% of the panel. I should have took pictures :( As I have not seen it on other pictures I have seen of the panels off the truck .It was for sure put there to address door rattle. So I took a shot without deadening and I have no rattles .

That's wonderful that it does not offend you and you are able to advocate for others.

There's a story here that I've saved because it reminds me a lot of my nephew's experience. It won't matter to most, but I'm still grateful to have stopped misusing the word.
