Almost 30 mpg on the hwy is great for a truck with AWD/tow package. Count your blessings!

Hey neighbor! Fellow Nebraskan here and I'm getting pretty solidly 22 mpg city or highway regardless of how I drive...something is definitely whack with your mileage because I've got 245/65/17's with FX4 and Tow package.

The .5" increase or the 4k gearing over the stock Falcons with 4k is not going to cause any significant difference. I've added 2" taller aggressive AT's to several vehicles and run 32" dedicated winter tires on my Tacoma and the mpg difference is minimal.

This guy added .5" over the Falcons or 1" over the Pirelli's on the AT package

Sounds like you should have bought the hybrid. Or a Prius.
Agree. We bought the hybrid specifically for the mileage. It was the only way the wife would give up her H3.

Ive had this truck 4 months. I don't drive a lot and I currently have about 2k miles on the odometer.

AWD, 4k tow running 245 65 17s and 1 inch front level lift. K&N drop in filter, no other mods. 89 octane gas used every time. Standard drive mode. I use it for personal transport and dont haul any heavy loads. Tire PSI set to 35.

I live in NW Indiana and do mixed driving of hwy and streets. I drive normally and I'm not a leadfoot. I don't use remote start or sit in traffic. I am getting absolute horseshit mileage. I have not seen 20mpg. I understand the figure may be off a tad with the slightly different tire size but other people with the same truck and mods are claiming 30mpg. WTF gives already? I bought a small truck to save on gas mileage. My V6 equinox was a gas pig and got better mileage. Its one of the reasons I dumped it. With the the gas $ now going through the moon its starting to bother me. I have the money but I didn't buy a "baby truck" to piss money away on gas. I bought this truck to get a few more mpg than the equinox and I was expecting to get at least 22mpg. I understand going up a size in tires may kill 1-2 mpg but come on now. Enough with this BS already. Im tired of the.excuses. Im seeing 17-18mpg tops. Less than 280 miles per tank. I am always putting gas in this truck. I've reset all settings twice to start from scratch to see if that helped and it has not.

Anybody have any ideas what could be going on? I cant be getting 10-12 less than other members with the same truck. Winter gas blend, altitude, driving style/ BS already. 10-11 mpg less than others is NOT normal. Something is wrong here and I'm getting pissed. The biggest reason people buy small trucks to save on gas.

I have the same set up with no mods ( Fx4 no 4k)and I'm light on the gas pedal too. The same exact thing is happening to me. I have about 1,200 miles on mine

I have an XL, 4K, eco boost.. On a trip of about 500 miles I got 32mpg. Almost all freeway. Back in town with a mix but mostly city driving I am down to 27. I try to put it in eco when I remember.

Is someone siphoning off your gas? Mine is 2wd and I only haul pool cleaning equipment in the desert but I'm getting 45 to 50 MPG since new. Now with 3000 miles.

That is a shame mpg for a small truck.. It has been the common theme on others experience winter mpg.... My Hybrid Maverick was getting 33 on the highway with average of 37 in mix driving.. in January and February... I have found driving like a grandma upped my electric mode and average above 40 mpg... I have not experimented with gas stations but my first tank of gas was my best mpg... The dealer filled the first tank... I am not sure what the dealer put into it but I almost got 600 on the tank.. My wife does not like to drive with me because I drive too slow..

Hi, your 4k tow running package reduce the 1-2 miles + tire + lift kit + 89 gas = 3-5 mi/gal. I have a Lariat AWD with 91-92 gas... And my performance is around 22-23 mi/gal city-hw.... and 28-30 mi/gal only HW...of course my truck is STOCK (no mods)... Please try a performance chip. FORD motors have neve been an good option forf fuel-economy... :/

Which means COLD weather. Do you do many short trips with a cold engine?

Winter gas blend, altitude, driving style/ BS already. 10-11 mpg less than others is NOT normal.
I don't believe any of those factors has as much influence as ambient temperature. EcoBoost engines are notorious for running rich when the engine is cold. If you make a lot of short trips around town before the engine can fully warm to operating temperature your fuel economy will take a big hit.

yes, if I baby the crap out of it in normal and never really get in the gas/accelerator I can average close to 29…. Babying it in eco I can avg closer to 31 (I just want to enjoy driving and don’t care enough…. 24-25 is good enough for me)

Have your dealer recalibrate the computer for your new tire size. larger tires throw the speed sensor off.
