Ford can’t deliver, Hyundai can. Ford won’t be able to deliver on all the orders this year. Lots of us will likely be switching to the Santa Cruz or Frontier.
Santa Cruz production isn't higher than the Maverick as far as I know, and because of that all the SCs have huge markup. Like I found a base SE here recently, and they wanted $5K markup. Uhm, no! 😑

Our of curiosity, I checked several other vehicles and even something like a Kia Seltos, huge markup. Sucks right now.

No...

Bronco Sport and Maverick are built in Hermosillo, which used to build Fusions.

Mustang Mach-E is built in Cuatitlan, which used to build Fiestas.

Louisville Assembly in Kentucky builds Escapes and Corsairs.
Thank you for the correction. My point being it doesn't matter where the cars are built in regards to quality.

Clarification noted. Thank you for taking the time to help me understand better.

The first person to pay over sticker for any car ruined it for all other buyers. GD dealers...

When I see pictures or an actual Santa Cruz I say to myself; "Eliminate the rear passenger compartment an you have a ????? SUBARU BRAT ! Of course you would need to add the rear facing seats.

Better styling too, but the value proposition is the Ford. Comparing like trim levels the Santa Cruz is about 6k more along all trims.
Not interested in an El Camino offshoot, the Maverick for the price and fuel efficiency is what I wanted.

looks real sharp, I looked at them until all the dealers in our area have them all at $4895-6500 over the sticker that is already thousands more than the maverick xlt hybrid I ordered, at 25.000- its a shame, they do look nice and I have had 2 kias and 3 hyundias in the last 14 years and no problems I am tradding a kia soul on the maverick,
Over sticker is shameful - especially at those high markups you refer to ... mine was at sticker and I am happy with the Limited. I have looked at the Soul many, many times - but I cannot get past the Gerbil mentality ad they put out years ago. Total Turn off. My estimation is that it is a comfortable and viable efficient car for daily use. I have 4 Mavs on order - the earliest order was in July 29 and still do not have any update. I will more than likely purchase all 4 - I have 2 sons that need vehicles - I need to decide on which of the trims will be a Collector value in the future. Hybrid loaded or the 1st Edition (I have 2 RR AWD on order).

Collector value 😂

There will be ZERO collectibility value with the ford maverick. Ford is going to build this truck for decades, there will be millions of them on the road.

Not in my lifetime - the same could have been stated for the Mustang the first yr. Since this is getting such great accolades I will put my money on the future value - 30-40 years from now, great grand children may enjoy the value? Maybe not...
