They don't need them, but all those laptops and stuff they bought ate up space st the chip fabs. Ford is competing for resources with all the tech manufacturers and their stuff makes chipmakers a lot more money than the kinds of chips Ford uses.

Don't forget the crypto currency craze where people and even corporations are building warehouse sized crypto farming operations which are significantly contributing to shortages.

I realize you can sit at priority code 2 for a while. My hope was based on seeing other mid-August Lariat w/lux hybrid pkgs getting scheduled. I got a "we received your order" email from Ford, so I'm good there.
There are people including myself have had orders in before you, so until you get the email from Ford telling you the week of built, and it usually arrives about 3-4 weeks before the built week.

It's not that there's a "shortage" per say compared to past years. Personal wealth has skyrocketed during the pandemic. Between people gaining insane amounts of equity in their homes and also spending significantly less than they were on necessities and more on frivolous things like computer, video games, etc, of course inflation has risen. The problem is that more people are buying "things" than ever with this "wealth". The amount of people I know who either bought a second home in the country/beach/lake/whatever and also purchased a car at some point during the pandemic is ridiculous. I have childhood friends that lived in a major metropolitan city their entire adult lives and never owned a car who now not only also own a home in the "country" but have purchased at least one car since the pandemic. Personally speaking, going from commuting to an office, spending money on gas, tolls, maintenance, incidentals to working from home and making all of my meals, etc, I have been able to save more than ever AND start a side business with my free time that I would have spent commuting or doing errands that I now get done on my regular work week. Now, I'm purchasing another vehicle solely for my side business because I can't even keep up and need something more suited to the work I do.

Unfortunately, I think this is how things are going to be for the foreseeable future until something crazy happens like the economy taking a complete and total dump.
I have a nephew just out of college who was hired by a major accounting firm in a large city almost 18 months ago. He would have been spending the best part of $40 day between commuting costs and overpriced lunches. He has been in the office a grand total of 3 times and one of those days was a Christmas gathering. He loves it and the company said they see this option being permanent. Not only is he not wasting at least three hours a day commuting, he has saved thousands and thousands of dollars. Went and got himself a brand new Jeep Rubicon which will last him 15 years at his current mileage and he is way ahead on his student loan payments. His only commute is down one flight of stairs to the refrigerator lol.

During a non-scheduling week, does that mean that they are not even finishing the 97 percent complete trucks sitting outside the plant?

It just means there's no new scheduling for this upcoming week. The factory is still building trucks as long as they have supplies to do so.

Thanks for clarifying. I thought I read someone say they were not building any Mavericks this week.

I see the drama is turned up to a level 12 on a 1-10 scale about no scheduling for a week.
PRIORITY CODE 19!

Scale of 1-10 and we are all at a 19. ;)

Delzona, for you and the other June/July people, I hope there has just been some kind of e-mail issue and your trucks have actually been built and they are already on trains. Hang in there.

Take it as a personal challenge to hang in no matter what. Think Moses . Think Lewis and Clark . Think being a Detroit Lions fan .

Chip shortage is real. Even a company with crazy high margins and the foresight to purchase tons of extra chips is having problems. The article is now a half a year old, but the point still remains:

https://www.theverge.com/2021/10/28/22751418/apple-q4-2021-earnings-supply-constraints-chip-shortage
yes shortage maybe real. But is the cause for it real? Tons? It wasn’t like they would go to waste like bananas. And if they did continue stock piling for a couple months, they would sell them for the premium. Hmmm.

Yes, I'm hanging on and I'm going to send some emails to Ford Customer Service Director, Ford Customer Experience Officer and of course Ford CEO, so I got my weekend work laid out! 😎
