Hey thanks not sure what a cool over plug means? But I’m thinking it may be a tranny thing or driveshaft??
Sorry, coil-over plug. As I get older, my typing gets worse.

Hey anyone having trouble with the drivetrain (tranny, or drive shaft) skipping when throttle is pressed like going up a hill?
I've had my hybrid for a week and just noticed it shuddering intermittently. Schedule a look-see at my local Ford dealer. Some people are attributing this to a normal shifting of the transmission, but this is nothing like that.

Does the eCVT shift? I didn’t think it did.

No, the eCVT is electronic and there is no shifting sensation. This is a much different feeling than shifting. It feels like I'm going over those ruts they place on the side of the freeway when you're getting too close to the shoulder.

Update: Took the Maverick to the dealer. Service people look up the truck on their computers and they find what probably is the problem. Wait ... what?! Apparently, the truck sends its operating data to Ford and apprises Ford of any problems. I was amazed. Looks like a braking module problem and should be fixed soon. (fingers crossed). OR ... the dealer where I purchased the truck had all this info beforehand and didn't bother to address it. I was so stunned by the technology when I dropped it off, I didn't think to ask. I'll find out when I pick it up.

Update #2: Ford has different components within their service department. I haven't had a lot of dealings with Ford's service departments, so I didn't know this. Anyway, they sent the truck through every systems check and could not find anything wrong. Since picking it up several weeks ago, the problem has not returned. Perhaps it was a system reset or update. The truck is virtually a mobile computer, so that sounds like a reasonable explanation.

My Mav Hybrid has the same issue. Started after 1000 miles. It’s a shudder/chatter you can feel big time, lasts about 5 seconds, seems to go away if you step off gas, then back on. It happens to me in the morning leaving home. Accelerating slowly in ECO mode from a 4 way stop there’s a slight grade enough to trigger over to the gas engine, speed usually 15-20 mph.

The description that best fits it is what someone me mentioned earlier— like going over those road side ridges to wake you up.

I own an auto service. I do not think it is the ABS system. The modulation from this shudder is far too slow for an ABS unless it’s doing something crazy. Sounds to me like a CVT issue but I’ll get it in to Ford.

If anyone figures it out please update!

'Coil over plug' means that each plug has it's own coil pack and the coil is usually located over the plug.

I had the exact same problem. Took it into Ford, they went through the entire vehicle, but could not find anything wrong. It hasn't done it since, but who knows?

If you ok'd it, the Maverick will send data to Ford on how the the systems are operating. Perhaps that will give them a clue as to what's happening .... although, it didn't help in my case.

I had a very similar issue with the truck not shifting well. I was very concerned I had a transmission issue. Below is a copy/paste from my service report. Basically, it was a software issue that was fixed.

C/S: TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING WHILE DOWNSHIFTING & UPSHIFTING

Verified concern. Checked for DTSC. None Found.
Checked fluid level and condition level correct. Fluid good.
Road tested vehicle while monitoring transmission PIDs. Found gear shift from 1-3 and 4-3 harsh and delayed.

Tech: ********
Performed adaptive drive cycle relearn.
Cleared DTCS, cleared adaptive strategy.
Performed clutch stroke, upshift, downshift, engagement, and converter.
Performed all adaptive relearns 3 times.
Road tested vehicle while monitoring transmission PIDs. Concern gone.
Retested for 3 days at cold start up and late afternoon start up. Concern not present.
Vehicle pass and release.

I have less than 150 miles on mine and have felt this same shudder on two occasions -- exactly how you described.

Yesterday was the third time this has happened to me. Just left the house, drove .5 miles and the washboard/shudder happened☹ Flat road, 1200 ODO, 1/2 tank, electric driving, 55° and sunny. All 3 times have been during the first drive of the day. I don’t know if the washboard is getting longer or I’m just becoming more concerned and it feels longer🤔

The same washboard/shudder happened when I test drove a Chevy Bolt EV in 2019 and it just stopped/died in the middle of the road 😱 Yes, this with my Mav concerns me!

I doubt Ford service could duplicate this since it has only happened 3 times in 3 weeks and 1200 miles☹ FoMoCo needs to be made aware of this issue!

That's exactly what mine did, but I haven't experienced it since getting it back from Ford service. I have under 500k on mine. Please keep us informed.

Had my 2.0 AWD for 3 months as of today. Not one single problem so far. Well, the crappy FE decals started coming off in the car wash so I had them removed. I think it looks better without them.

Hi there! Can you send us a PM with your VIN and Ford dealership information? I’d be happy to look into this Maverick concern on my end.
