Happened to me a few times now. At my work, I drive around the yard from place to place, having to get in and out a few times sometimes. When I pull the latch to open the driver's door, sometimes my hand hits the manual lock located at the top where it's hinged. It's apparently just enough to lock it. Thankfully, when I put it in park, the doors unlock. BUT you can actually lock yourself out manually.

Didn't know if anyone else experienced this?

If the keypad doesn’t work (it should) would the app work?

Both should work. I assumed if the key is in the ignition and running, his phone is probably plugged into Sync.

I think all modern cars with central locking systems have mechanisms to prevent this from happening.

The Ford Pass App.

Remote start your Maverick, check tire pressures, more stuff I can't think of. I've got the app but no Maverick yet. LOL

Thank you. I am truly clueless. I should have known. I won't let myself get all excited about anything until I know my dealer has my truck. Maybe beginning of the second quarter? No worries, it is what its in strange times.

The salesperson or delivery person at the dealership will most likely give you information about the app and features your truck has at the time of delivery. If they don't offer it, ask for it. I am sure they have plenty enough time with not many cars to sell

I just posted another thread with something similar and then found this. Twice now I've had the truck lock with the keys inside when I got out to refuel or do something... once with the engine running and once without. I hadn't been able to reproduce it, but perhaps this is why

If it's a lariat, keep the key in your pocket and not in the console. It should beep to let you know the key has left.

If it's not, it should let you in with the keypad. I have a lariat and miss my old cars proximity sensor to just press the button on the handle to unlock when the keyfob is nearby. But have gotten used to using the keypad instead of finding my unlock button in my keys in my pocket

I have a Lariat. I lock the keys in mine all the time. I ran in for an acupuncture appointment today, just left them in the center console, locked the doors with the keypad by pressing the bottom two buttons at the same time. Ran in for appointment, came back out, enter my code, jumped in, started and left. Also works great when you go fishing, at the beach, at the gym, wearing something without pockets.

It's one of the best thing about having Ford vehicles. Super convenient. And if you accidentally lock them in there, you have the keypad and the FordPass app to get back in. I've had the keypad on my Expedition, 2 Explorers and Lincoln Mark LT...and now my Maverick.

I have a time or two left my Keyes in the truck. But when I shut the door the horn blows twice. I immediately know I left the key in the truck and it doesn't lock, until I get them. Then it will lock. I also like the auto-lock. If you forget to lock your truck and walk away with that key fob in your pocket. It will lock for you after two or 3 minutes.

Mine doesn't do that. It makes no sound if I lock my keys in the truck while the vehicle is off. Though, my horn will blow if I leave the vehicle running and walk out with my keys in my pocket. Looks like we both have Lariats. I wonder if there is a setting?

I didn't see how you pick a code for the keypad?

I was given a code from my Ford dealer at time of purchase. It was on a card. I used it to my change my code to something I will remember. I use my programmed code all the time. I put the OEM code in my safe, for safe keeping.

How do I Program my Keyless Entry Keypad?
  1. On the keypad, enter the 5-digit, factory-set code that came with your vehicle. ...
  2. Within five seconds, press the 1-2 button on the keypad.
  3. Enter your desired, new 5-digit code. ...
  4. Press the 1-2 button on the keypad to save your new personal code.
