Google Ford Oxford white spray can. You could sand and prep it and do a good job with a spray can. Preval disposable sprayer and paint from body supply is another option. Depends on your abilities. Or just drop it off at a body shop and be done.

If it is gouged, which it appears to be from the picture, bring it to a body shop to see what they think. Their estimates are free. It is then up to you which route you want to go. If you are handy could try to fix it yourself and see how it comes out.

So our first minor fender bender happened today. While pulling out of a parking spot the front passenger side bumper side swiped the vehicle next to it......sigh......I know these things happen but at less than 200 miles it's frustrating....why oh why????

Anyway, just wanted to get everyones opinion on how to proceed. Unfortunately turning it over to insurance is not an option so we were thinking about just calling the dealer we bought it from and making an appointment with the body shop. Is that a solid plan?

Here's a pic of the damage. As you can see it's not bad but we want to get it fixed.

Sorry to hear about your accident and glad you are okay.

The shop will need R&I the bumper cover. They will check for broken tabs and see if the cover is gouged. If not, they will sand it down, paint it (flex additive) and clear coat it. If it is torn, they’ll need a new cover. If the repair cost exceeds your collision deductible, then you can decide whether to file a claim. Some insurance companies will not add a surcharge if the damage is less than a certain threshold or may offer accident forgiveness.

Get multiple estimates, at least three. And not just a number thrown out there verbally. These estimates will list the labor rate and paint/materials rate as well as the number of hours and will vary by shop. Tell them you want to pay out of pocket. Many dealers send out the truck to an independent body shop anyway, so shop around.

As for the folks who are going to worry about the paint not matching, consider this… the bumper cover is plastic and the fender and hood are either steel or aluminum. The paint adheres differently on these surfaces so it never really matches anyway. It all depends on the amo7nt of light and the angle of your view. Also, the quality of the paint job done by a shop is usually better than the OEM factory paint so you actually might have less orange peel. Lastly, Oxford white is a flat white paint and I would say that it is one of the easier ones to match (as well as flat black). It is non-metallic and also not a three stage paint. This is to your advantage on the repair.

Best of luck and keep us posted.

Also, the inside door tag will show the paint code for Oxford White (YZ I believe) and you can go to PaintScratch.com and look up touch up info, etc.

That is a pretty simple job to take on yourself .

Order two cans or original Ford spray paint, one can of two component clear, a good respirator a spatula, Bondo with 200, 400 and 800 sand paper.

Wait for a nice dry day and have some beers in a cooler. It will take you an entire day.

Bu evening you will be tired but happy and a lot more knowledgeable about body work.

As other have mentioned, YouTube is ypur

Meh, it’s just a cheap work truck. Just leave it, it will make the next blemish seem much less important.

At most, just rattle can it

Can't tell if it's dented but try wiping as much off with alcohol as you can, buy matching touch up paint, paint it on by hand, sand lightly with 1500 grit sandpaper, let dry, paint clear coat on, sand again lightly with 1500 sandpaper, then 3000, then 5000. Polish by hand using a high quality vehicle polish (not compound polish).

That's how to save about $2500.

He probably wasn't insured himself and didn't want people poking their nose in.

its plastic. just touch it up and leave it alone. Having a battle scar will make you less obsessive and happier about minor stuff that just happens. Have those types of scratches and minor dents on all my vehicles. Dont care

Everyone who pays for monthly auto insurance premiums (which should cover uninsured/underinsured), but never actually uses insurance is baffling. The whole point of insurance is to have them on your side in the event of an... accident.

It looks like it could be 'repaired' for less than the average deductible.

Is it correct that if you do a claim, even if you fully pay out of pocket with your deductible, then that means if there's another accident (within a year?) then that deductible amount has already been reached and you'll be covered for any further costs?
