Why a Hybrid XL? ... I'm spending way too much on my 1957 Chevy, had to choose which one to spend the more dollars on! Check it out in the Showcase "other vehicles".

I got a Lariat Lux just so I could rub the cruise control feature in the XL owners faces and not buy 3rd party add ons.

Instead, we just add the Ford "factory" cruise control to our XLs for less than $100, and while we are at it, we add traffic sign recognition (not available on any factory trim) for free!

I tried to make a deal on an XL but the dealer sold to someone else so I got lucky and got a XLT a few weeks later but an XL be ok with me too since I do mod my vehicles.

Funny, the Poverty Edition is exactly what I've been calling my incoming XL. #1 reason I honestly ordered a XL, was my distaste for the XLT interior.

Besides the price of paying up to 10k more for the Lariat w/Lux package, if you are handy it will cost about 3k to 4k to upgrade the non aesthetic features sans power seats. That cost doesn't show up on your ad valorem tax bill the first year plus the lower tax rate each subsequent year on the depreciation.

Im actually upset that my fx4 comes with the dumb digital gauges. Whats wrong with a little needle on a axis? I havent been a fan of weird instuments since the 80s gm cars. My favorite is 70s ford truck and 80s ford van setups. I just love em.

So how did you go about adding the factory cruise control? Was it as simple as taking it to the dealer to add it? I’m hoping to get the XL and did not want to pay the extra package cost just to get it.

All of my previous Hondas have been LX models because I don't care for all the fancy stuff.

The Maverick XL is just a dyslexic version of my previous choices in autos. Remember...dyslexics are teople, poo!

If i wanted to mod, a XL is hands down the way to go. But after having a slew of modified cars in my relatively young life i just want factory OEM luxury. I leave my toying around to my KTM and Husky bikes.

Most i would do to the Lariat,lux etc is some tires, bed cover and tint. Maybe, just maybe paint the headlight bezels but that's a huge maybe.

It was the price and fuel economy..,.

Since I habe a 98 mile commute to work and My VW died of a blown engine and then the Mrs. totaled her car a couple weeks later.

Having to purchase two vehicles in this market we had to go most economical.

Then when I found a dealer with a stock order and a sooner than later ETA it was a start to my hurry up and wait.

Now my 12/20 ETA has been pushed back so many times I lost count. See my signature for all the updates.

I would have gone with an XL but I wanted cruise control. I did not want the orange trim of the XLT...so I opted for the Lariat with no extras added. Heck I was hoping for a stick shift!
