Hood paint rubbed off from wiper

Totally user error. How can you say that Ford recommends this practice for snow and ice when they are CLEARLY just recommending it for changing the blades which is a very specific sequence of events where you will immediately put the windshield wipers back down after replacing the blades. If someone was dumb enough to do this and damage their paint PLEASE make a video recording of your trip to Ford service to see if they'll pay for the damage and post it to youtube. I could always use a good laugh.

This thing is 50 bucks and I know people who live on the Canadian border where it snows all the time who use it and say it works excellent and guess what? It will cover your wiper blades and windshield, is super easy to put on and take off and is much cheaper than playing dumb games with your wiper blades and causing hundreds of dollars of paint damage that YOU'RE going to pay for.

Correct. If you try to lift the arms up while the wipers are parked, the arms will hit the hood and scratch the paint. Lots of modern cars are this way.

From the few times I have stood my wipers up the paint on the edge of the hood has been rubbed off and is down to the metal.
Would this be covered under the warranty?

You say from the few times you did it. Wouldn’t you have stopped after the first time when it rubbed the paint?

Well said! It's basically like not cleaning dirt & salt off the reverse sensors.....and then backing into something and expecting warranty to cover the damages. Well, the sensors weren't working, so Ford will cover it, right?

Yep. Minnesotan here and leaving blades up is a phenomenon that has become more common in the last few years. Putting them up is a winter rookie move.

If ice is a big enough concern to put your blades up you have to scrape the windshield anyway. Leave your wipers down, properly scrape the windshield and you'll be fine.

Ditto.....by the time the car is warm enough and you've removed the rest of the snow from the car the defrost is already working most of the time.

You have to manually move them to the side before you try to pull them off the windshield.
As you can see by your picture that's not happening

You can not manually move them. The only option would be turning ignition off when wipers are mid cycle.

Ya know they used to sell door edge guards for people that bumped their doors into things by parking too close maybe you can find something like that to go across the leading edge of your hood? Obviously that’s not a Ford warranty problem to be covered since you caused the paint damage yourself.

I characterize that as a design flaw, but I prolly hold manufacturers to a higher standard than most. While a manufacture cannot make a vehicle completely consumer-proof, it benefits both the manufacturer and the consumer to avoid design issues like this which are completely foreseeable. If there is one scratched hood on MTC, there are 9,000 of them out there in the real world.

We have a guy here who repeatedly, intentionally did something stupid that he had to have known was scraping the paint off his hood.... and now wants to know if Ford will fix it.

If I let them go until noon I'm already where I was planning to go!
