I didn’t even know about this until being on this site. I ordered a Velocity Blue base hybrid with only a drop in bed liner. Auto Start/Stop sounds like a pain to me. Is this something that is on the base model ?

I don’t think hybrids have auto stop/start, only Ecoboost.

What do you mean auto start/stop? No you can't use your remote to start/stop the truck. Yes the engine turns on and off as needed while driving just like every single hybrid engine ever produced for almost 20 years......

A full hybrid, by it's very nature, has start/stop. The difference between it on something like an ICE only vehicle is a hybrid also has the electric traction motor to start moving the vehicle immediately. So even if it takes a small amount of time for the engine to produce the power to meet demand it does not affect drivability from a stop.

No, not talking about using a remote. I mean people who say the truck turns off every time you are at a stop light. I see mentioning some device for $100 that needs to be attached to disable it or you have to remember to press a button somewhere to prevent it from working, but you have to do it every single time you start the vehicle. Just trying to find out if this is a feature on the base hybrid.

Pretty much all hybrids do this. It's part of the reason they're so efficient (i.e., only burning gas when they need to). It's seamless in practice.

Welcome to the new world of hybrid things. Auto start stop is one of the critical functions of the hybrid, and it happens automatically while you're driving, when you're stopping, really all the time for a variety of reasons. But it's not going to feel like auto start/stop in other vehicles. There is no "starter" that cranks (da-da-da-da-start) like in the regular gas vehicles.

There is a very powerful electric motor in the "eCVT" transaxle that spins up the engine crankshaft very quickly and very smoothly, and it does it frequently for a variety of reasons, the main one being when you push the accelerator harder than a feather falling heh. It's very nice and smooth in the Maverick. Older hybrids were likely more noticeable, but the Maverick is super smooth IMO.

If you care about mpg efficiency, you'll start to learn how to maximize the time the engine stays off while you're cruising in Town.

Perfect explanation!

I consider a toaster high tech. So just to confirm, when you are at a red light, there is no second or two of hesitation to re-engage when you are at a light? And the starter is not worn out quickly because it doesn’t fully turn off ?

The auto start/stop can't be disabled on a hybrid and would defeat the purpose of getting a hybrid. As others have mentioned, it happens seamlessly on a hybrid. You may notice it, but it won't impact your ability to move quickly if needed.

Exactly - you get instant torque in a hybrid. If you floor it, you'll get electric + gas power or if you ease into it, you may just get electric power initially depending on your acceleration speed, terrain, etc. There is no traditional starter in a hybrid because the electric generator starts the gas engine as needed.

No lag when you hit the pedal, even if you floor it, the generator motor spins it up so fast, and in addition the traction motor (the other major part of the eCVT) is immediately pushing as well. Those both combined kick you real nicely off the line if you need to zip.

Again, there is no starter, no accessory belt on the engine, all accessory components in a regular gas vehicle like starter, alternator, power steering/coolant pumps, and A/C compressor are integrated into the electric system.
