Is it good value if the package has garbage tires? Those Pirellis are awful and Ford should be ashamed.

I have read mixed reviews on the Pirellis, never had any of the brand though. Was considering if I could buy new Michelin x ice for this winter and trade/sell those to a tire shop. I read on another post some places will give you credit. Or, see how they do for myself and decide to replace from there.

Discount Tire near me will give $100 each for the take off Pirellis. Using that $400 towards a set of larger 245/65’s.

What tire are you going to get? Stock or lift?

I believe I’ve settle on Toyo Open Country A/T III in a 245/65/17.

Would likely be a good 4 season tire according to Discount Tire. If I was able to get $100 for stock that would pay for half of it.

Wow, if I could get $400 for my set of Pirellis, I might get the Wildpeaks or something else...hmm...

Go sticker a Ranger 4x4.and then compare it to a Maverick awd.
Huge gap in pricing.
This is the cost of a base XLT 4x4 ranger.
you can get a fully loaded optioned out Maverick Lariat AWD and Tow package for $38k and some change.

Yea I know but it’s a true body on frame truck. Frame alone probably costs 5k and can tow a good amount. The maverick is mostly for an urban environment with fuel economy in mind and for people who won’t need a full or midsize truck.
My 04 f150 FX4 was $38k back then, today’s equivalent it would cost 57k for a similar full size truck. IMO most of the midsize trucks are over priced for what your get.
To his their own.
For me I wanted something useful for under $30k that gets 35+mpg. If I need a bigger more capable truck I’ll go for a Ranger with incentives; the price will be around $38k OTD.

Ranger pricing made sense in 2019 when nobody wanted them and they were 20% off MSRP at every dealer

Now everyone wants MSRP for used rangers and over for new - I don't get it

You are correct. Everything right now is way out of whack and prices are going up across the board.
If I was going to buy a new truck I would just put in a factory order and work with a dealer that won’t mark it up. Buying any vehicle now is crazy and hopefully things will start settling down within the next year when production and parts availably ate there.
I never buy a vehicle unless it is at or under invoice and has good trade/incentives. It’s all about timing.

I know what you mean I have 2000 Expedition 4x4 Eddie Baer edition 5.4L. If you pull up next to a newer expedition 4x4 mine sits higher and is very off-road capable for what it is since it was built off the F250 frame vs. the newer versions.

Will the Maverick take 245s without any shaving or other adjustments needed, and if so is that probably the biggest tire it can take without other modifications?

Still lots of unknown with that until people actually get their trucks, most of the information out there is based off the Bronco Sport. 245/65/17’s will fit with no modifications. Anything north of that looks like it might require some trimming. I really want to get 245/70/17’s. I may just do that and deal with whatever trimming needs to occur.

I feel like people's expectations for off-roading are too high for the Maverick. The Bronco Sport is arguably best in class for off-road capability and just because it shares the platform doesn't mean it's going to be as good.

For the Maverick, I feel it is safe to bank on doing the things you see Outback's and Foresters doing. The biggest value I see with the FX4 package is honestly the factory recovery points. Vehicle tie down points are not recovery points but can be used in a pinch if no other option is available. There will be aftermarket options available for skid plates and a good set of all-terrain tires and a good driving line is definitely better than the available drive modes that come with the FX4 package. I'm not saying the drive modes are bad but ultimately tires are what connect you to the surface.

If off-road use is the primary goal, the Ranger will vastly outperform the Maverick.
