If you need 4k towing regularly, I think you know the answer.
If you need the AWD regularly, I think you know the answer. (BTW.... It's my personal belief that most people that "need" AWD, don't) the hybrid should be able to go anywhere, do anything that your Jetta was doing.
I think for everyone else, it's hybrid, FTW. The hybrid costs less up front. The hybrid should have less operating costs (less oil, brake pads, gasoline). Multiple reviewers prefer the driving characteristics of the hybrid more. I think, even though it's debatable, that the hybrid will age better. That debate centers mostly around battery durability vs. carbon buildup; I think the reality is SOME hybrids will last longer and SOME Ecoboosts will last longer.
For me, I'm going hybrid. I can't remember the last time I needed to tow anything or AWD. When I do need to tow, I can rent with the money saved on gas.
