There. Ran until distance to empty is 2 miles. Fueled 14.1 gallons. Have every reason to believe hybrid tank is over 14.

Owner's Manual for the Maverick shows 16.5 gal. tank for Eco Boost, 13.8 gal. tank for hybrid. Could be some variables to consider...computer not exactly accurate...some fuel added into the filler tube...gas station fuel pump not calibrated correctly allowing them to indicate more fuel than actually used, thus making more $$$...

My guess since there are shortages that some if not all hybrids are getting the 16.5 gallon tank. What was the build date?
September 20. The first week of hybrid production.

Yeah filler tube holding 0.3 gallons is not unreasonable

Fantasy. Especially since the volume difference between the two is the internal components for the tank pressurization while the external dimensions are approximately the same. And omitting those would affect EPA results. So Ford isn't likely just slapping Ecoboost tanks on Hybrids.

Not correct. The 2.0L and Hybrid share the same fuel tank shell, but the Hybrid's tank has additional components within the tank itself necessary to support the Hybrid system and Atkinson-cycle engine. These components make up that ~2.7 gallon difference.

What different stuff is in the tank for the hybrid?

I have a number of questions?

Did you only do two fillups?

The first one on 12/31/21: $60.30 for 13.740 gallons at $4.389 per gallon, OD at 602.3 miles

and the second one 1/9/22: $70.43 for 14.088 gallons at $4.999 per gallon, OD at 1326.5 miles

The reason I ask is that I am seeing a very high MPG number on your second fillup and you seem to have gotten 724.2 miles range out of your tank o_O

OD: 1326.5 - 602.3 = 724.2 miles driven

Have you changed the tires on your Maverick from what was on your Maverick at delivery to something else?

1st fillup on 12/31/21: OD at 602.3 miles / 13.740 gallons used = 43.8 MPG
2nd fillup on 1/9/22: OD at 724.2 miles / 14.088 gallons used = 51.4 MPG

Over both fillups:

OD at 1326.5 miles / 27.828 gallons used = 47.7 MPG

There was another fill up in the middle. I didn't track it but it was about 1/4 left. I love right off the high way and I do 95% highway driving and depending on my speed it's averaging 35 and can be as low as 29 if I'm driving around 85-90 mph. Also ac makes a huge difference - probably 3-5 mpg. I had it on half of the time due to wet conditions.

Do you have the receipt from that middle fill-up?

If so the total fill-up gallons used will help in getting your real MPG number over the 1326.5 miles.

If the receipt only has total cost plus price-per-gallon then gallons can be calculated as in"

Fill-up total cost / price-per-gallon = gallons used

There is no difference in inside the tank. That is the craziest thing i have heard.
Not to be rude, but you are wrong 🤷‍♀️ The Hybrid's fuel system is pressurized, that is why it has a fuel door release and the 2.0L does not. In order to be pressurized the Hybrid fuel tank has additional structure on the inside of the tank shell, which displaces some fuel volume.

You Americans are spoiled, its $6 a gallon here in parts of Western Canada today.
Are we spoiled or taxed less? How much of the gallon price of your fuel is tax? According to a Forbes article in June, 2022, my state (NC) has 38.5 cents tax per gallon, while SC only charges 26 cents per gallon. There's an 18.4 cents/gal federal tax, but that's currently suspended until Jan 1st, 2023.

Regardless of whether it's because we tax less, have the capacity to drill more, or just because we buy so much we get a discount, yes, we're spoiled. No denying that.

$6Cdn. Thing is we don't earn US dollar, so the conversion doesn't matter much to us. 😁
Is that in Canadian or US dollars?

$6 Canadian is $4.75 USD

$6 USD is $7.58 USD
Ok, I get how $6 Canadian is $4.75 USD, but how is $6 USD = $7.58 USD?

I think I'm missing part of the equation. :)
