Miles to empty.

When I fill up I typically get a readout of 500 or high 400's. Last week I did a bit of towing and when I filled up after disconnecting trailer it said about 250 and started counting up towards 300. Is this normal?

Seems normal as now the vehicle doesn't feel that extra weight and drag.

Yes it is normal. Computer detects that you're getting better gas mileage and starts to adjust your miles to empty.

Yes, normal. The miles to E readout also calculates based off the mileage of the last tank, so after a bunch of towing it just assumes this new tank will be the same. Will adjust on its own as you drive normally again.

I believe the estimate is based upon your most recent 200 miles.
