The no resell clause is a nonstarter.
For whom: The Buyer or the Flipper?

Seems like Ford is trying to prevent immediate flipping as the buyer will have to wait one year before reselling. This should result in more vehicles in the hands of buyers who actually want the vehicle for their own use.

Not sure Ford has a right to do this,. once the F-150 is sold it does not belong to Ford. Now, if it's a lease that is a whole different story!

You can’t sell a leased car…. It’s not yours.

The point is that a company should not be dictating what you can and cannot do with your vehicle. I understand if it is a lease. But if you purchase the car, particularly if you do so with either cash or non-Ford financing, the car does not belong to Ford or the dealer.

No one should be OK with this, but nothing surprises me these days.

There are creative ways to enforce this. For example, making it lease only with the option to buy it out after the first year. Ford already has a lease program for the Mach-E where they keep the $7500 federal tax credit for themselves.

They did it with the 2nd Gen Ford GT, and enforced it. They just make it part of the contract to buy/sell. If you don't agree, don't sign the contract. So, that would a starter.

The no resell clause is a nonstarter.

This is not the same thing, when you lease an EV you don't own the EV the bank (manufacture) and the Federal Tax Credit goes to them. But if I purchased a Lighting, then it belongs to me, not the bank. Once I take possession of the Lighting it is mine, not Ford's, they can't tell me I can't sell it.

The manufacture has made some changes to leases, before hand they didn't care if you sold a leased car to anyone as long as the account was taken care of, but today manufactures are not allowing people to "trade-in" on competitors cars.
