Honest opinion from Hybrid Mav owners

300 miles into my Hybrid. So far its been perfect for MY needs. I can throw surfboards and mtn bikes into the bed, make random Home Depot runs and get 40MPG!! This replaced a very well used/old Expedition and its been everything I hoped for....so far.

As someone else mentioned, I do wish I could default to eco mode. Other than that it drives great, is surprisingly quiet (Lariat windshield??), apple car play is really cool, none of my other vehicles has that.

Overall, its SUPER practical and thats what I needed/wanted. I've got my motorcycle & Jeep to get stupid with.

Now that many parts of the US have now had their first taste of winter, I'm curious if any Hybrid owners have driven on icy roads and how the FWD handles (Not snow.. but ice)

I don't own a Maverick Hybrid yet, I do however own a C-Max energi (plug-in), I can tell you, do not run in "L" in icy or slick roads, when the transmissions goes to full regen, it will slide the front tires and cause the ABS to activate, that can be scary, better to use "D" on slick roads and ease onto the brake pedal, better control that way

FWD handles ice the same as RWD, AWD, or 4WD does once the vehicle is moving.

Coasting without any acceleration then yes. But as soon as you step on the gas FWD with more weight (assuming front engine Maverick) over the drive wheel will have more normal force and thus traction than RWD. AWD will of course have most traction with similar variables. Differences will be much more apparent when accelerating through a turn regardless of terrain/surfaces.

I have had mine less than a week, and less than 300 miles.

It was worth the wait. It is a nice truck. It handles snow, ice, and slush as well or better than any FWD vehicle I have driven in the winter.

I wish I could put both the Digital Speed AND the EV Coach on the screen at the same time. That is about the only change I would like to see so far. (After I add Cruise Control to my XL.)

Stick with it, I expect you will be happy.

I cant wait for mine to come in. To all those waiting I will tell you from 1st hand experience the Hybrid is definitely worth the wait!

I ran mine in " L" down my extremely steep and icy road and almost never had to even think of touching the brake at least not much if any. It's since, warmed up first to about 3" of slush (really difficult going up in that) and then it was re-plowed and great . But I'll keep in mind what you said the next time it happens. So far I'm extremely pleased with my purchase and the wait was definitely worth it. (Now that it's over)

I originally thought the same thing, but now I wonder if it would be too easy to accidentally leave the car "running" if there's no ICE noise. Needing the key would help prevent that. (just my thoughts as I'm still awaiting delivery)

Not sure if Ford did the same thing with the Lariat.

Totally worth the wait for me, and I waited a little over 6 months.

The truck is everything that I wanted, and more. I especially love the fuel efficiency and (very unexpectedly) the eCVT. Very smooth power. Handles well in the snow. Carries all of my stuff. Comfortable ride. Not pretentious—just a great small truck!

Dislikes? Not many come to mind, aside from very minor niggles. The brake pedal is a little touchy, but I’m mostly used to it now. I wish that I could leave it in eco mode, rather than set it each time I start the truck. That’s about it.

A few people have mentioned resetting eco mode every time they get in... I wonder if that can be remedied by a software update from Ford sometime in the future.

Yeah, my Volt yells at me if I leave it running when it thinks I shoudn't. And I think it will shut off as well, never needed to test that.

Based on this, it is possible that they changed the strategy for better, C-Max doesn't have slippery mode though!

However I have been in St.Louis in an ice storm and absolutely nothing could keep that taxi in a straight line from the airport to my hotel , scary!

My only complaint is having to use the key on my XLT. It's my fault given that I drove a vehicle with a push-button start for the last 3-years.

I like the key in the ignition at least I know where the fob is. In our push button start Highlander I am always looking for my key fob in my pockets or 10 cubby holes . Problem solved in the old skool cool Maverick

I had a Prius a few years ago. I occasionally forgot the car was still on, but when you exited the vehicle, an alarm went off. The first time it happened it took me several agonizing minutes to figure out my ridiculous error.

I can't say if it is worth it for you, but it was definitely worth it for me. I am a big dude. 76 inches tall, about 350 lbs, and have been driving around in a beat up 2007 Dodge Charger for a number of years. Long story short, it was time for a new vehicle, but I am very frugal with my spending and wanted something that was more fitting for my purpose. The Maverick checks a whole lot of boxes for me (price, size, room, fuel economy, has a bed, doesn't have to be plugged in) and the charger was going to last at least another 8 months before it really needed the suspension overhauled, so I had the time to wait.

Some folks can't wait, I could.

I am the same height and (a little) lighter and couldn't believe the amount of room. There are not too many vehicles where I can move the seat ahead a click from all the way back, the Maverick is one of them surprisingly. The Ranger feels more cramped, mainly because of the body on frame

or, I could key my key fob in a lockbox in the truck, use my door press buttons to open the Maverick and press the button to start and go. I’ll always know where my fob is and I don’t have to put the key in. Win-win?
