In the 80s (and into the 90s?) Ford had a bubble gum pink, and a similarly horrid lavender, paint to put on a handful of escorts and rangers.
The apparent purpose was to be able to advertise a lowish price, specifying vin in the ad, to get people on to the lot.
Whereas the ugly ranger might have been advertised for $8k, a non-horrid color would be at least $2k more!
