OMG! . . . . What the HELL are they thinking? I wouldn't be caught dead (or alive) in that thing. That's an image that's going to be hard for me to get out of my head. I was a GM guy most of my life and in fact, the Maverick will be my first Ford.

The only truck I think that can compete with the Maverick is if KIA sizes and prices the Telluride Truck in line with Ford. The styling is certainly there for me. Not to mention the 10 year 100,000 mile warranty.

This was what I was waiting for, until the Maverick came along. Now Kia is said to be killing their idea of a pickup. Dumb move. Probably because of the Santa Cruz. Hyundai owns 1/3 of Kia.

Reminds me an awful lot of the 2015-2017 Holden Ute (Australia)

I saw a similar video. It was one of those random images with a computerized voiceover, which is always annoying and why having a dislike count on YouTube is a good thing…

A GM competitor is objectively a good thing. Competition in the marketplace will lead to better and more diverse products for the consumer. That said, the Maverick does three things right: price, fuel efficiency, and size. If GM puts out a small truck that is competitive in those areas, Ford will have market pressures to keep the price low, develop better hybrid and electric technology, and do more fun things with the size.

All that said if it looks like this, I’m not worried for Ford.

Yes, you are right, competition is a great field leveler. But, is this competitive. Only at 1/2 the price of a Maverick. Can't believe that designers thing this thing is good looking, but then I've seen other small Utes from Mexico, and it is typical. Not something I want.

yep, think Renegade or Patriot platform for Stellantis and Yaris or Corrolla for Toyota.
Yep, you're right, never liked the platform for the Patriot, Compass, Dodge Calibre, Mitsubishi Lancer & Outlander, nor Dodge Avenger or Chrysler Sebring, especially with CVT. All based on the same under performing platform. But I did like the Patriot squared off styling. At least the design of it lent it self to what the little SUV is. It was a fairly low cost with low expectation, entry level vehicle. Too bad Jeep didn't actually put Jeep running gear with the Patriot.

Spotted the PIC below here: https://chevycarusa.com/2023-chevy-montana/ indicating 2023 line up for USA.

It's a little better. The design could be a little more truck oriented. Glad we have the Maverick. Did you see the entry level price? $26,595. And, the new 2023 Chevrolet Montana pickup truck will offer a payload of 1,000 pounds. Let's see, it's $4,000 more to start, with 2/3 of payload capability. That's not competitive with Maverick XL, nor the XLT.

The photo is of the current gen. They are doing a refresh next year. I’m hoping they prioritize my big three of price, fuel economy, and size to compete. If the base price is more than $24k and it’s a 2 door, I’d argue it’s not a real competitor to the Maverick.

My guess is that GM will base it on the Blazer or Equinox and build it in Mexico. That gets them most of the way there with tools they already have.

Then again this company gave us the HHR, so who know what they’ll do. 🤷🏻‍♂️
