American made [Locked Due to Politics]

I cannot be the only one sick of having all Maverick accessories made in other countries. It is sad enough that my mav is from Mexico, just go looking for accessories that are American made. Thanks for letting me rant

Yes, that is the general idea. Other countries employ this to great effect, most notably India.

OTOH, there's more to production costs then just labor. Sentimental regulations, NIMBY lawsuits, other business related lawsuits, IP requirements, ece all make manufacturing significantly more expensive to do state side, as opposed to SE asia, where the rivers run a horrible shade of greenish brown full of sludge and industrial run off. They havent had their Cleveland River moment yet.

A better comparison would be appliances. For instance: the GE GNE27 is a 27cu ft french door fridge made in Iowa, largely from US sourced parts. The LG LG LHFS28XBS is a 28cu ft french door fridge made in Mexico, with most of its parts sourced from either Mexico or China.

The starting price of the GE is $2,600. The LG $3100. Both are on sale for $1800.

Doesnt look like foreign labor helped much there.... and fridges are much more labor intensive to assemble, so it should have helped!

Like most things, I'd bet a US made TV would likely only carry a $50-100 premium over the overseas models.

This is partly on consumers being unwilling to buy American made stuff, partly on politicians for making it so profitable to outsource, and partly on manufacturers for being unwilling to invest in the largest consumer market on earth to keep things moving.

I kind of agree with that example I just wish you would have picked an American owned company.

Haier completed the acquisition of GE Appliances from General Electric ten years ago on June 6, 2016, for $5.6 billion.

My personal opinion is that the Chinese /GE will sell their comparable refrigerators at a loss just to compete for market share with their Korean competition LG.

You live in a capitalist country and society. Also now being a world wide economy they use, take advantage or better meaning, exploit labor in other countries. This brings in goods cheaper or less expensive than what it would cost here. It also offers other countries to prosper and go through a industrial revolution. Another downside is the less then desirable working conditions, unhealthy and often times dangerous and many times the use of prison and child labor. Also other countries don't require sophisticated or technology to reduce air and water pollution. This all keeps the price down to the consumer. It's unfortunate but it's the times we currently living in.

Most companies are public they have to show profit for their shareholders and any way they can stay solvent. It's why we have labor shortages in especially in trades. Those jobs don't get shipped to other countries.

Good luck take stock in your home. You will be surprised how little is made in USA.

The main concern of this thread was products being made in the US, not where the millionaires have their tax haven located.

I am much more concerned with how many working Americans can find jobs, not the c suites who horde the wealth.

Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way for the majority of Americans. Making Walmart the largest retailer in the world. Walmart generates a total revenue over $690 billion annually through its vast network of hypermarkets, supercenters, and e-commerce platforms.

Same here 1969 mom and stepdad bought a RCA 25" console. $799.

I have a couple US made ones. My bump step, Tuffskinz tailgate letters & wheel well trim. But you are right, they are few and far between.

Even in the event we did/could, who is going to work the factories? This new generation is so lazy. I generally do not hire 2000s kids. No work ethic, dont show up, cant listen or comprehend. We would have empty factories and failures all around. My experience, and .02
