Crazy they would replace the RDU and completely skip the programming! That explains exactly why it was trapped in front-wheel-drive mode—the computer had absolutely no idea how to talk to the new clutches.
The RDU failed after only 28K miles???!!! I'm having serious second thoughts about the purchase of my 25' Maverick EB, I see so many major component failures with low miles on this forum. VERY concerning.
Rarely does some one complain about their new flat tire, and then proceed to walk around the vehicle and praise the 3 just fine tires.

No, Ford de-contented the 25s down to the most basic features. All the fun bells were ripped out. You get a speedo, a tach (which must be turned on) and a MPG gauge (disables the speedometer gauge and makes it a basic number).
Apparently a large number of them came out of the factory with under-filled RDUs. I know mine most certainly didn't have the right amount of fluid because when the new one was installed, we checked the old one and it was 200cc below what it's supposed to be, and many others from the Maverick Argentina FB group whose RDUs failed told me a similar story. There's one brazilian YTer whose RDU failed at just 9k (or at least began making noises, so it could theoretically be saved with a fluid change, but i bet there's some damage done already)
The biggest problem is the servicing intervals for things like transmission, RDU and PTU. It is simply is too optimistic. The 8f35 will definitely fail long before the 150k miles, and people don't realize city driving constitutes severe use. Ford themselves couldn't be bothered to let their clients know either. Same for the PTU and RDU. That's the root of all issues, provided they didn't screw up something up at the factory, like underfilling the RDU.
You will get that type of traction on any forum really, most post will be a negative about the truck, just the nature of how forums work. The people that don’t have issues with their trucks aren’t on here looking for remedies, and the ones that do id say it’s still a very small amount that would troubleshoot it themselves rather than just drop it off at the dealer, which is what most people do.
Yes, that's likely true. People don't take the time to write good things but they take the time when they have a problem. I've had a new Toyota, Nissan, Chevy and Mazda but I never followed any of their forums. I joined this one because I was bit intimidated by all the technology in this vehicle. I've always been someone who prefers manual roll up windows! LOL
mine favors the left front wheel,however back in the weeks long ice event could go"hell for leather" and get all of them pulling,wasn't pretty but it worked don't like doing it,the stench of gear oil was apparent during the trial.
